The motherboard might be touched by my ex-roommate. What component might be missing?

See the power / restart button is jammed. Many times this happens simply because the restart button jammed and kept pressed. You can try removing restart connector which is coming from the front panel.

Sounds like a jumper is misconfigured. Let me find the picture for you.

I realized I need an AGP to connect a monitor to my Asus P4PE-BP. Will AGP 8X work. Specs call for AGP 4X.

The 8x AGP cards will work in the 4x slot. But the 8x AGP card will lose about 1% to 2% of its performance.

Exployer 8 download crashed my intel asus p4pe with windows xp . I cant boot up. I get the voice welcome, then when it should boot up, it clicks and starts over. Never ending loop.

I would recommend booting your pc to Safe Mode and restoring your system back to a date BEFORE the crash happened. When you power on your pc, press F10 or F8 until you hear a beep. This will bring up a command function for you to select what you would like to boot to . Choose Safe Mode.

Good Luck

Your computer is getting too hot. Get canned air and spray all the dust out, especially the dust in and around the proccessor and heatsink (big metal grille).
Then move the computer off shaggy carpet and move it several inches away from the wall.

If that doesn't wokr you may have hardware incompatabilites, like with your memory or graphics card.

PC Problem after installing Kingston PC3200 1G in my Asus P4PE-X

As you can see in the manual page 1-13 to use a memory PC3200 you must have a processor working at 800 MHz FSB, now you probably have a processor running at 533 MHz FSB.
