Re: I have a Bose Wave Radio with CD Player - its broken

I was excited to see someone had this problem when I was looking for a solution to the 2 CDs which my 3 yr old had jammed into my Wave system ... I was then dismayed to see there was no solution. So I persevered and succeeded!
I lifted off the top cover by removing the 5 screws underneath. I could then see into the "jaws" of the CD slot and after listening/watching the thing struggling to eject (clicking and grinding) a couple of times, I simply tried getting hold of the leading edge of the CD's at the same time as it was trying to eject and they slid out quite easily. It will only work if the ejector is trying at the same time as you pull.
Everything seems to work again ... until the next time!

Why does my bose wave radio turns itself off every twenty minutes?

I am not sure how to fix your radio; but my wave radio wasn't working and I took it into a Bose store and got an excellent trade in for a new one. I traded a wave radio without a CD player for a new Wave radio with a CD player. I would take your radio into the nearest Bose store.

I copied some music to a disk with 4 different formats but the bose radio wont play any of them.

The Bose Wave Radio doesn't have a CD player. The Bose Wave Radio/CD does.

It will only play standard music CD's with standard CD Audio on them.

The manual is available at

The cd player is not reading the discs. The read out flashes and blinks but it does not read the music off the disc.

Try removing the cover and clean glass laser eye lens with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab. If cleaning doesn't work, then laser lens circuit will need to be tested and replaced. You can use an ohmmeter to test the capacitors and circuit.

I gave the Bose Wave Radio and 3-cd player to a friend for

Unplug and plug back in. It should go through a automatic process, ejecting any discs that are inside. If all you hear is a mechanical noise, try this again only with the disc trays facing the ceiling.

Non-working CD in Bose wave radio

Try replacing the battery on the bottom of the system - alot of people miss it because you have it constantly plugged into the mains, but replacing this (somehow) re-sets the system, and 9 times out of 10 solves the issue.

Bose does not release their parts list or schematics, effectively creating a monopoly for service and repairs. In fact, their web site says that the Bose factory is the only option for repair. Their troubleshooting guide (below) may help, but it's very simplistic. Before you invest in expensive factory repairs (usually in the $100 range) you might want to check out the new HD radios -- better sound and a MUCH lower price.
