Question about Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 for PC

TOC Page Numbers Don't Display in PDFed Document

I use WORD 2000 and 2003 for large-volume documentation. I organize my sections into a "master" document, generate a hyperlinked TOC, then PDF the full, expanded WORD document using A/A Pro. 7. However, when the conversion is done, my TOC page numbers do not longer display in the resulting PDF file. Can you tell me what is going on here, or more to the point, what I can do to fix this problem? Thanks. -- Mike H.

Apparently Adobe doesn't consider importing pagination data from Word documents to be important enough to code Acrobat to find Microsoft's record of the page numbers and import them properly. I would suggest using Adobe Acrobat 7's page numbering feature, and simply number your pages appropriately, to match your table of contents.

Why Can't I print documents?

What application are you printing from?

Are you trying to print a PDF with a lot of scanned images or embedded content? Large PDFs can bog down printing.

Try to find a simple text-only PDF (no graphics or scanned stuff) with only a few pages and print it.

Some third party PDF generators do not make clean PDFs. They are malformed and can cause issues when printing.

Hyperlink other document in excel button

The easy way (but labor intensive) is to put the file names in a column (can be any name you want or the pdf file name), right click on a cell, hit insert hyperlink, and in the address field at bottom, put in the file pdf file name. You would have to do this for each of your 100 files.

If you want to automate it, create a column with the directory path name, a 2nd column with the full file names, a 3rd column where you concatenate the two previous columns to create the full path, and then use the hyperlink command to provide the link:

Folder name Filename Concatenated LINK ../excel/ file1.pdf ../excel/file1.pdf file1.pdf ../excel/ file2.pdf ../excel/file2.pdf file2.pdf ../excel/ file3.pdf ../excel/file3.pdf file3.pdf

Here are the formulas behind this:
A B C D Folder name Filename Concatenated LINK ../excel/ file1.pdf =CONCATENATE(A2,B2) =HYPERLINK((C2),B2)
../excel/ file2.pdf =CONCATENATE(A3,B3) =HYPERLINK((C3),B3)
../excel/ file3.pdf =CONCATENATE(A4,B4) =HYPERLINK((C4),B4)
This should work like a charm and the other advantage is that excel won't rename your path locally depending on weather a file is open or not).

I am trying to hyperlink a word and pdf doc onto front page. Once I hyperlink it - it doesnt work on my actual website what am I doing wrong?

In your hyperlink you have to specify the full path to your document.
I your software makes a hyperlink to the document on your hard drive, then obviously it won't work on a website.
Example:
Your website: www.FooBar.com
your document is located in a folder "/documents/"
The hyperlink should look like
<A HREF="http://www.foobar.com/documents/thedocument.pdf">Click to download document</A>
This is the safest way.

Another important thing: in Windows, documents named Document.pdf, document.pdf, DoCuMeNt.Pdf etc. are exactly the same. On the Web however these are completely different files!
Make sure, that the name in the hyperlink is exactly the same, as it looks like uploaded to your website (via FTP for example). Look at the FTP directory after upload and note the exact capitalization of the the file name, and adjust the hyperlink. Or check the name in hyperlink and rename the file using FTP, whichever you prefer.

Create link from system generated report to another sheet

the easiest way to do that is use hyperlink.
right click on the cell you want and select the hyperlink and link it to other worksheet or document you want.
one caution: if you are going to copy the worksheet to other than where it is now, you have to copy all of the attached worksheet and document. otherwise, you will get a error message.
