I know this is old, but to help the next person.... On a DK40, you program from port 000, not ext 205. The DK280 is programmed from ext 205. The other info is correct.
Yes, if I remember correctly, you can use that phone on any Toshiba Digital System, new or old, but not on any Electronic Key system, which not very many people use anymore. Most people use digital now, anyway, so it will most likely work
you will need to have the admin program and a cable to connect to the system to re-make the mail box 990 or call a forwarded phone and get their voicemail box and press star and log into mail box 999 and create the user 990. If its older and you have a keyboard and monitor simply make mail box 990 and turn on DND.
You would have to dial your voicemail extension. Usually this extension is 850 or 555. Once greeting starts you need to press *. It will then ask you for the user ID and password. User ID should be 990 and password should be 990997. Once in the mailbox you will have to follow the instructions on entering in your message. Below is a site with Toshiba manuals that may help.
Dial into voicemail extension and when message starts press * it will then ask for user ID and password which is 999 and password is 999997 by default. Go to option 8 then option 4 to reset password to default. By default all passwords are the extension number plus 997. Hope this helps.
Knowing what type of System and Voicemail you have would be beneficial to know. This may work for you, if it doesn't just let me know which VM you have and we'll get you setup.
Dial
Voicemail (usually 100), when you hear the greeting press the * key.
When it asks for your User ID, dial 999. When it asks for the security
code, try 999 or 999997. Once logged in press 8 for system functions.
After that, listen to the prompts and it should walk you the rest of
the way through it.
