Question about Samsung SyncMaster 713BM 17" LCD Monitor
THE SCREEN KEEPS SHOWING NOT OPTIMUM MODE REC MODE
1280X1024 60HZ.THIS COMES UP ON THE SCREEN WHEN I SWITCH
COMPUTER ON AND DOES NOT GIVE ME ANY OPTIONS.
This problem is caused by a fault with IC200 on the main board, this seems to be a common failure with the Novatek chip and can only be replaced by a repair company as the new chip needs to be reprogammed and it is also surface mounted.

This problem is the monitor - i have years of techying about behind me and its the monitor im telling you. buy a cheap replacement - it will work - dont mess with o/s or anything - just plug it in - not a cheap solution but very effective.
the person above is onto the right thing when they say the problem is on the mainboard - except its the technology within the monitor thats doing it - buy one that does not have - magic tune, magic bright or magic speed - bingo.

I am a technician-informatic. I have repaired about 80 Lcd Samsung monitors with theese problems. I offer the repair manual.
Manual has been done with the experience of the repairing Samsung Lcd monitors. Manual was made by me and shows how to open monitor, how
to solve dark screen problem, how to check and replace capacitors, how to solve the problem non-optimal mode (without reprogramming MCU or
changing the main board) photo are included. 100% functional. The repair process is very simple 30-40min. (does not need a lot of
experience in electronics and expensive instruments) and is not expensive. With this manual you can solve problems by yourself and save
"Not Optimum Mode 1280x1024 60Hz"
- The monitor turns on but turns off by itself, the LED blinks green.
- If you detach from the PC points to "control cable" the picture runs continuously in the vertical direction or presents while line , and
as soon as it is reconnected, the monitor goes off.
- The monitor does not turns on and dont dispaly anything, the LED blinks green-lit, if you detach from pc points to "control cable".
- The monitor turns on, works well some time, but after a window apiers "Not optimum mode. Mode recommended 1280X1024 60Hz"
- The monitor turns on, works well only with low resolution 800x600, when try to change a window that reads "Not optimum mode. Mode
recommended 1280X1024 60Hz"
the manual you can find on ebay (my ebay name is asnerejas123):

Try resetting the monitor settings to factory defaults.

SOURCE: Samsung SyncMaster 713BM
Follow the instruction below to solve your problem:
Restart your computer and enter Safe Mode (press F8 right as the computer starts booting up. Choose Safe Mode in the menu, press Enter twice).
While in Safe Mode, open Control Panel and go to Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features on Vista/7) and uninstall the display driver software/drivers.
Restart your computer and boot normally. Now you should be able to see everything. Things might look bigger and uglier, that because there's no display driver installed. All you have to do now is reinstall the display driver. Use it's original disc or go to the manufacturer website and download the latest driver.
