Question about Apple STUDIO DISPLAY 21" Monitor

Monitor is black at start up

Led blinks green but won't come on. I've switched out monitors and it's not the monitor. I also replaced the video card , no good. Power supply is 300 watts and I was told that could be the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Jimcoco

Re: Monitor is black at start up

Do you hear any noise at all on start up? Drive spin?

Power supply could be the problem but have you tried replacing the PRAM battery or at least zapping the PRAM?
Press start and immediately hold Command+Option+P+R and wait for two or three chimes, then let go.

Or try resetting your NVRAM in Open Firmware:

Start up with the Cmd+Opt+O+F keys depressed.

When the open firmware screen appears, type in the following after the "0 >" prompts:

0 > reset-nvram
Press Return
0 > reset-all
Press Return

After pressing the second return, the Mac should restart on it's own if the rest was successful. If not, enter the following to restart, or simply power down with the power button:

0 > mac-boot
Press Return

Or try removing the battery (if you know it's good) for 20 minutes, then replace. (Does the same as NVRAM reset)

You can also try resetting the SMU or CUDA button depending on which machine you have.

If you have the machine starting up OK but no video, don't forget the possibility that the video cable could have a problem like a bent pin.

Was watching a movie on my computer last night and all the sudden the screen started turning off and on with no picture when it was on. Has the monitor gone bad or is it a video card issue?

The simple way to check if this is a Monitor issue or not, you can unplug the monitor from the Computer and connect it only to the power outlet. If it gives you a "No signal" screen or goes through any sort of other Self test, Your monitor is fine. You can also check if the power led is blinking Amber or Green. A blinking Amber LED while the monitor is only connected to the Wall outlet indicates the monitor is faulty.

Screen turns black and blue LED is blinking

Sounds like the monitor is being made to show a resolution it does not support. Check the available resolutions the monitor supports and then check what resolution the video card is giving, if it not compatable, you get the black and blue screens.

For the video card, right click on the desktop in a an empty area and choose properties > settings > your resolution from the card will be there. Now from there click on advanced > click on monitor and look at the monitor settings. Make sure the box is checked to hide modes the monitor cannot display. Now click on the adapter tab and click below on all modes. This is the list of all modes that both the monitor and the video card argree on. Make sure the settings in your game match one of these and you should be good to go.

Syncmaster 2232gw led blinking.

Change the screen resolution. The video card or video display may not be compatible to the supported video setting of the monitor. Try changing the video resolution to a lower setting such as 1024x768 and bit depth to 32 bit.

Blank Screen while Green LED is Blinking.

It's because I accidentally plug the cable to the built-in graphics card port. Now I connected it to the right one and my monitor is working great!

Hansol Mazellan 500A is it not compatible with 128MB Video Card?

your monitor does not support the screen resolution that your windows install is set to. hook your pc back up to your computer guys monitor, and reduce the screen resolution, then hook it back up to your monitor.

Dell P1110

Hi, The part where you see some color bars and blinking green led is what we call MONITOR SELF TEST. A diagnostic pattern consisting of four colors (red, green, blue and white) appears, and the LED flashes slowly. this happens when signal cable from the monitor is disconnected from the tower and leaving the power chord for the monitor plugged in. If the monitor works properly on a different computer. then its a problem with the computer's video card sending out signal. im 85% sure that its a problem with your video card.
