Question about Canon PowerShot SD300 / IXUS 40 Digital Camera
The lens on my Canon digital camera will not close... i am unable to take a pciture and do not know the reason for this....when the camera is put on i am able to see my old pictures but when i click to take a new picture the screen is blank..i dont know what to do...please help...i have the canon power shot sd 500 camera and the problem that appears is the E18...... please help me E18 appears on the screen and I am unable to take a picture, also the lens stucked
Your first problem sounds like a defective CCD imager. If your camera was an S300 Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. Please check the following two links for more info:

Unfortunately, you mention that your camera is an SD300. That model camera is not currently on the recall list. But you might want to call Canon anyways. You might get lucky as the problem sure sounds familiar to the recall (excuse me, advisory hehehe).
