What does 900 Service RIP Software error message mean and how do i reslove it

If the 900 error occurs only when the printer is receiving information from a network or computer, contact your software/network support. If the error occurs when the printer is idle or not connected to the network or PC, there may be a printer hardware or connection problem. Sometimes a bad connection with an Internal Network Adapter/Network Card can cause the problem. The first thing to check is the base printer. To check the base printer:
  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect every cable, except for the power cord.
  2. Turn on the printer and see if the error returns.
  3. If the error does not return, try to print a test page from the Test Menu.
    1. Press Menu > to enter Menus.
Optra S series and Optra K series printers: Continue to press Menu > until you see TESTS MENU.
Optra T and Lexmark T and W series printers: Continue to press Menu > until you see UTILITIES MENU.
    2. Press Select to view the menu items. TESTS/UTILITIES MENU is now on the first line of the display.
    3. Press the Menu > button until Print Menus appears on the second line.
    4. Press Select.
    5. If the display tells you to change paper, press Select or the GO button to print.
  4. If the test page prints correctly, the printer's hardware is most likely working correctly. The source of the problem is probably outside the base printer.
  5. If the 900 error occurs again before, during, or after the printing of the test page, remove all options (internal network adapters, optional feeders, second drawer options, finisher options, additional memory, etc.) from the printer.
  6. Then turn on the printer and try to print the test page. If it still posts the 900 error, the printer may need to be serviced.
  7. If the error does not return, then the problem may be with one of the options.
IMPORTANT: If you receive an Invalid Engine Code error message when you power the printer back on, there is a problem with the printer. An Invalid Engine Code condition will cause a 900 RIP Software Error message to appear if you try to use the printer. The Invalid Engine Code error means either that your printer has lost its stored operating code for the engine board or that the printer's engine board has gone out.

Getting a "low memory" message on a Optra S 1255

Go to the menu settings page and print out your settings and see how much memory you have installed.

Next, low memory messages usually point to a data flow control problem or a very busy document.

Create a very simple page of text and send it to the printer. Do you get the same error message?

If you do, then you may need to replace the memory simms because of component failure. It could also be the motherboard.

You may want to consider having the unit serviced.

I have been printing chapters in a book. One chapter will not print. The message on the Lexmark screen is "flushing buffer". does anyone know what this means or why it will not print?

The 'flushing buffer' is most likely due to a corrupt file or file to large for the printer memory. You can check the file size and reduce it. Also you might want to upgrade your memory for the printer. Also might want to check your printer settings if the page you are having trouble printing is different from the other pages printed, such as text & graphics, etc. There is also a possibly of print program incompatibility or Windows OS Patch required but I doubt this since you have printed other pages without any problem. Lexmark Optra 1275sc - 900 Service - Software Error

I have the same problem, but the error only occurs when I try to print a .pdf file (Adobe Reader) using the "Lexmark Optra SC 1275 PS" driver. For some reason the PS driver didn't like .pdf files! My solution was to always print .pdf files using the alternative " Lexmark Optra SC 1275 (MS)" driver, which Lexmark also offers on its website.

Printer message reads error 13

Error: 927 Service Fan Stalled
Check the main exhaust fan first. All models of these printers have a main exhaust fan. The main exhaust fan is located on the top of the printer, on the rear left side.
Make sure nothing has fallen down into the main exhaust fan that could be blocking it. There are vent slots/holes in the top cover of the fan, on the left-hand side. Look through these vents/holes.
If there is an item stuck there, see if you can remove it. If not, you will probably need to have a technician remove the top cover unit and extract the jammed item from the fan.
If nothing appears to be blocking the exhaust fan, power off the printer and let it sit powered off for at least a minute.
While the printer is turned off, check to see how it is plugged into the wall. It should be plugged directly into a wall outlet and not through any sort of surge device or power strip. (Power strips and uninterrupted power supplies can cause a low amperage problem in your printer, which could trigger a 927 error.) Even if it has worked on this surge device for months, try connecting the printer directly to the wall. If the printer is already plugged directly into a wall outlet, try it at a different wall outlet.
When the printer has been off for more than a minute, power it on and see if the 927 error returns.
If the 927 error does not return, try printing again. If the printer works as expected, continue using it as you were doing before the error arose. The 927 error may have been just an isolated incident. However, keep an eye on it for the next couple of days to see if the error returns.
If the 927 Fan Stall error continues to return when you power on the printer or when you try to print, the printer will probably require service.

If you are a technician working on a printer that has ONLY one fan installed, check the cable connecting the main fan to the engine/system board. Make sure the connections at the ends have not come loose and that the cable itself is not damaged. The parts that are most likely to need replacing are the main exhaust fan or the printer's engine/system board.
Some printer models also have a second auxiliary cooling fan, sometimes called the cartridge cooling fan. Printers that have this fan are the Optra T614, T616, the Lexmark T622, the T63x series (630, 632, 634) and some models of the Optra S 2420, 2450, 2455, and Se 3455. Note: The second exhaust fan was eliminated on some later models of these S series printers. The auxiliary cooling fan is located on the back of the printer, on the right-hand side.
Check the fan as you checked the main exhaust fan. Look into the vents. Make sure nothing has got stuck in this fan.
Turn the printer off and on again to see if that clears the 927 error first.

If you are a technician working on a printer with this error that has more than one fan installed, you need to establish which fan is causing the problem. You can perform the following checks:
Check the main exhaust fan first as it is usually the cause. If the main fan appears to be fine, check the cable connecting the auxiliary fan to the printer's engine/system board.
Power on the printer. During the warm-up sequence, both of these exhaust fans are supposed to turn. If one fan turns and the other does not, the fan that is not turning is the most likely cause of the problem.
Measure the voltages coming off the engine/system board to those fans. If one particular fan is not getting voltage, the problem lies with the printer's main system/engine board or that particular fan or cable.
The Lexmark T622/622n model printers also have a fan on the printhead unit. This fan is not visible from the outside of the printer, so you will not be able to check it visually. Power the printer off and on. If that does not clear the error and this fan is the cause of the problem, the printer will require service.

If you are a servicer working on this printer model, follow the steps listed above for the auxiliary fan, but adding this third fan to your list of checks for the cause of the 927 error.

Printer Stops Printing

Hi Catlin, Sorry for the delay but I was reviewing old postings and ran across your questions. Most of my users that report this type of problem usually miss an error message showing in the printer queue icon in the task bar (lower right hand corner). If there?s nothing there I would suspect memory problems (especially if printing graphics) or perhaps a damaged printer queue. I would try deleting and reinstalling your printer from scratch. If no luck there run a configuration page and verify home much RAM the printer has installed. Post that information, your operating system and any other pertinent information and we?ll pickup from there.
