I want to discontinue my tracfone service. I have a new iPhone and will be using Verizon.

Tracfone doesn't sell iPhones, but you can purchase a sim card for one from Tracfone with the Bring Your Own Phone promotion. Because Tracfone doesnt sell iPhones, you must use this promotion to go through the Tracfone network on one. These sim cards require you to know which cell network type your phone operates on.

Contact the person you purchased the phone from and ask if the phone is GSM or CDMA. A GSM phone will only work with AT&T and T-Mobile sim cards while CDMA phones will only work with Verizon and Sprint (All in the US of course).

I'm afraid that whoever sold you your iPhone had you believe you were buying from Tracfone, but this is not the case.

the above link will tell you how to open the sim card tray on your particular iphone. You should be aware that I phones use alot of data and may not be the beat choice to use with tracfone. Instead consider one of the other tracfone companies that provide more data like straight talk, page plus or even net10. You would need to check and confirm that your particular iphone can be taken to one of these other tracfone services by visiting the appropriate website and selecting the chat option of the will my phone work option

As long as the fone u want to use is network unlocked then u can use the (Obama fone , free government fone)Sim card in any fone. Samsung, LG, iPhone etc.... all will work as long as they are network unlocked. Good luck

Make sure you get an AT&T phone and look into the tracfone BYOP.

I believe the phone number is assigned to your Sim chip.
Your Mobile Network Service Provider can reassign your Phone # to the new Sim Card. Not sure what country your in.
Pity you didn't have an iPhone with "Find My Phone" activated.
You could have (or the police) tracked the signal to the thief and caught the culprit or you could wipe the data off the iPhone and lock it,...so that when next used it could not be unlocked without a password.

Tracfone is not your average carrier. In fact they are not a carrier at all since they contract with well known carriers such as AT&T and Verizon to provide service to Tracfone customers. Tracfone does provide limited services through the internet, very similar to what you could get on other cell phones 10 years ago. Tracfone offers "Information Services" consisting of an internet news service, weather, and sports. They also offer internet ringtones, and graphics. To receive any of these services, you must purchase data services through Tracfone using your talk minutes. One dollar's worth of Tracfone data can be purchased for the equivalent of about 3 to 10 talk minutes, depending on what type of talk card you previously purchased. Even with an "internet" Tracfone model, you still cannot browse standard web sites or even mobile web sites with your Trancfone service.

No. Straight Talk refuses to allow Verizon phones to be used on their service.

Straight talk only uses Verizons towers, they are a tracfone company, and tracfone doesn't accept any phones but their own.
