When I put memory in, it beeps at me & nothing comes up on the monitor

Is this a new memory module you are installing (are you REPLACING or ADDING memory)? How many memory slots does this computer have?
Make sure that the module is seated firmly by gently tugging at it after the locking mechanism is in place to make sure it doesn't fall off. Sometimes the lock engages even though the module is not correctly seated.
You may want to try the module on a different port and if it still beeps, the module may be faulty (if there are any other working and compatible computers to try it on, it will help isolate if it's the memory module or the motherboard's memory ports at fault).
If you have any other spare memory modules, you can try those as well. Whichever component (either motherboard or memory) the problem is isolated to will have to be replaced.

Most of my programs keep saying not responding. what seems to be the problem?

Your computer is running low on memory, due to too many running programs (unwanted programs starting in the background when windows boots). This causes the computer to use your hard drive when ram is used up (this is alot slower than ram).
Use some software to clean your computer up. Try this little guide.
Also Think about adding more ram

Hello there:
first off you will need to ensure that the memory that you have purchased is fully inserted in the slots next ensure that the memory is compatable with the motherboard that you have and your system
go to the manufactures web site of the computer and there will be a technical support option there with phone numbers to help you.
Also you may also want to swap slots with the memory sticks and see if this helps ok so please try these ideas. ok
best regards mike

Acer desktop failing to boot

Some times when computer boot and hang with amber or yellow light it is a memory error not allow computer to post. You can try to check your memory by taking them out and re-seating them in place then trying to boot or trying using the memory in a different memory bank slot. One other thing is to remove the memory computer and remove disconnect the hard drives and CD/DVD-ROM to see if you can get the system to post. Start adding the components back one by one to see if any of them are causing the system to halt.

Montior in Sleep mode

Take out the newly installed memory chip... If your sure its compatable with the motherboard, reseat it correctly into it's slot and fire up the computer. OR try rebooting with just the old memory installed. Monitor blackouts happen when the incorrect Memory is installed OR when the Memory is not seated properly.
stop chasing video and monitor problems...... :)

Pc freezes when new memory installed

You problem is the motherboard. On your PCs mother board the 128MB that came with the motherboard might be the highest memory the chipset on your motherboard can accommodate. The chipset is built in and you cannot change or upgrade it. You can speed up the PC with how many memo sticks you added, if the chipset can handle. So it look like if you want a fast PC you need to get a new motherboard chipset with higher memory clock frequency.
Here's the pic of the chipset on the motherboard(square type)
