Replacing the pring head.
1. Remove the side covers.
2. Remove the ink loader assembly. There are 2 connectors on the ink loader. SO remove it slowly.
3. Remove the spring guides on the print head. One on each side, Held in my one torx screw.
4. Remove the spring bracked assembly on the left side of the printer, it puts pressure on the XY axis motor to position the print head. Just pop it off and position it up and to the left of the bracket.
5. Remove the steel square block on the left bottom side of the frame.
6. Unplug the harness and ribbon cables and then from the back of the printer, remove the print head, be careful not to hit the drum.
Install the print head, the ribbon cables are somewhat difficult to plug back in, Just be patient. and make sure they are conneted firmly. Also when replacing the cables and harness, be sure they are routed corectly so the print head does not get bound on them.
Set the print head into position and install the steel block, then the spring bracket on the XY motor, then the spring brackets in the proper positions. Dont forget to put that spring bracket back on, It is easy to over look.
Make sure all things are plugged in on the print head.
Next reinstall the ink loader, make sure all connectors are connected.
Install the covers and you are done.
Take your time, probably should take about an hour. Just to it carefully and methodically.

Ireplaced the printhead on a Xerox phaser 8400. I am now getting an error message i put the pivot block in that came with the origonal head (not working correctly) and have tried it

This fault code indicates a problem with the process control system. The machine cannot successfully home the transfix mechanism.

Check for obstructions around the printhead. Look for ink shards in the gears of the tilt drive. Check the printhead wiring harness to make sure it is not blocking the printhead movement (left/right & front/back). Remove the waste ink tray and look for ink build-up.

Check the process drive gears for damage. Ensure the gears are correctly aligned and homed.

Check the nose cone alignment on the X-Axis motor. Is the nose cone aligned with the printhead shaft (left/right movement).

When you removed the square metal block from the printhead shaft on the Left side, did you reinstall it with the "dot" in the same orientation as the diagram above it shows with a check mark?

I have a xerox phaser 8400 printer that will not do anything, just reads "fault 37,004.40:32046" what can I do? Thank-you

The 37,004.40 error means that the ink reservoir is not heating up correctly. Make sure the printer is plugged in directly into the wall and not on a power strip and cycle the power to the machine (turn it off and back on). If the problem continues, you probably have a bad printhead which you have to replace. For the 8400 the part number is 650-4303-00. has that part in stock and ships same day. Here is a video that shows you how to replace the printhead. Hope this helps and thanks for using FixYa.

Xerox on a 8400 faults code 37004 403B25998 what does it mean

37,004 is a printhead error, specifically that a Reservoir heater isn't drawing power from the power supply.

The printhead 650-4303-00 is expensive, unfortunately.

How do I remove ink from a Xerox Phaser 8400 - I want to load new ''fresh'' ink

I use a pen or something similar to work it up the loader and the stab it wit a push pin or paper clip to lift it out. You'll need to run some solid color pages to purge the ink from the printhead.

Error in xerox phaser 8400

37,004.40: PEST - Printhead Reservoir 0 disconnect. Reservoir 0 is not drawing
the expected power from the supply.

One of the printhead cables may have come partially unplugged. Also, an ink spill on the circuit board could lead to this problem.

Moving printer across room/print head green flag hasn't raised

Did you remove the maintenance kit and waste tray? Sometimes, they hang up. By now, you've probably fired it back up and are running but, in this case, you want to do that quickly so that the ink doesn't have time to harden and stick the maintenance wiper to the printhead surface.

Xerox Phaser 8400 getting error -- Service Needed 37,002.47:72864

The technical error message means:
The Printhead Left jetstack heater is not drawing the expected power from the power supply.

Possible solutions:
1) Make sure the AC plug is plugged into the wall and not a UPS or surge protector. Other things such as another printer, coffee maker or other electrical devices on the same circuit could cause a sag in AC demand from the Phaser, causing it to fail it's PEST (Print Engine Self Test).

2) Verify that the wall outlet's circuit is capable of delivering the correct amount of current to the Phaser, if it does, check how many other electrical devices (aka a desklamp, radio, etc.) are on the circuit.

3) If it's out of warranty, reseat the cables from the Printhead to the Electronics Module. If it's in warranty, place a service call on the unit.
