Sleep and hibernation frequently asked questions
On most computers, you can resume working by pressing your computer's power button. However, not all computers are the same. You might be able to wake your computer by pressing any key on the keyboard, clicking a mouse button, or opening the lid on a laptop. Check the documentation that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.
You can adjust how long your computer waits before sleeping or hibernating-or prevent it from turning itself off altogether. But be careful. On a battery powered laptop, inhibiting sleep or hibernation can result in data loss if the battery dies. Here's how to prevent your computer from entering a power-saving state:
Open Power Options by clicking the Start button .jpg" alt="Picture of the Start button">, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.
On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings next to the selected plan.
On the Change settings for the plan page, click Change advanced power settings.
On the Advanced settings tab, double-click Sleep, double-click Sleep after, and then do one of the following:
If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.
Double-click Hibernate after, and then do one of the following:
If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.
If you also want the display to stay turned on, double-click Display, double-click Turn off display after, and then do one of the following:
If you're using a laptop, click On battery or Plugged in (or both), click the arrow, and then click Never.
If you're using a desktop computer, click Setting, click the arrow, and then click Never.
Click OK, and then click Save changes.
I Hope that helps very old problem but still happens even with windows 8.1. Good Luck.
In my experience, i will press the power button(if my battery gets too low and the screen get black), then the laptop will get to the previous screen automaticAs the set of my laptop is that, when I closed the lid, laptop will go to sleep but not turn off, and the laptop will woke up after I opened the lid. try and to see anything helpful?
Unfortunately there are a lot of similar complains on the Lenovo forum,but nobody found an answer to this problem at least till the date I'm typing. All some people could do is to set the computer to go on hibernate instead of sleep at the cost of a longer recovery time or installing a 32bit Windows version at the cost of not using all the cpu bandwith (the i3 or i5 processors work on 64bit). It's a reason many people should avoid buying this type of laptop.
hi! just a tip! you could actually adjust the settings on that so that it wouldnt sleep after 10 minutes. you could adjust the settings of it on the lenovo energy management or on the power management. try to adjust the hibernation on it and the sleeping time as well. hope this helps! goodluck!
Remove the battery and adapter. Press power button for 30 sec. Then connect the adapter. Press power button. When pc started, go to
control panel---->power options--->change plan setting--->
Turn off the display-never
Put the computer to sleep-never
control panel---->power options--->change plan setting--->advanced power setting
-set hard disk "turn off hard disk after" to never
-set Sleep "Sleep after" to never
-set hybrid sleep setting to off
-set hibernate after setting to never
Restart pc
Go to Power Options and select 'Choose what the buttons do'. You might have changed the option for 'When I press the Sleep button'. Revert it back to sleep.
Turn it on, then wait, u will hear the computer turning itself on and off, but nothing is showing on the screen. so make it turn on and off, 3 time.( such as hearing the computer turned off, so that one,THEN IT TURNS ITSELF ON AGAIN, next time it turns off, that count as 2, and so on). on the third shut off then u press and hold the off button, to force it to shut down, then wait. about 5-10min., or less then 5. after then u turn the computer on.it should be on by now. if not try it again. if it happens again try one more time, if it happens again. then there something really wrong with your computer.
