My modem straight away connects to my Laptop.

No my modem is Not functioning as router.

I'm using Norton Internet Security 2007.

And when I checked the properties of "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" there are two internet Protocol ( Version 6 & Version 4)
when I clicked the properties of ver. 6 I got following message.." In Order to configure TCP/IP u will have to Install & enable a network adapter card !
and when I clicked ver. 4 properties all the settings were exactly the same as u adviced.

    Please help me out.

Do you use a router, or are you connecting the modem straight to the laptop?

Does the modem have multiple plugs for computers to plug into (if so, it is functioning as a router as well.?

Do you have any firewall/internet security software installed?

My guess without the above information would be that it is a problem with your DNS setting. Open "Network Connections" and right click on your "Local area connection" and go to properties. Click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP" entry and click properties. Be sure that it is set up to "Obtain DNS server address automatically"

From my experience with networking problems, Norton is often the culprit. First, try disabling all of the features of the Norton Internet Security, and see if that helps you at all. Even if it doesn't, that does not mean Norton isn't causing problems, With Norton "off" does not always mean it is completely "off".

If that does not work, try disabling norton by pressing WindowsKey+R to open the Run dialog. Enter msconfig in the run dialog and press enter. You will be working on the "Services" and "Startup" tabs of msconfig. Uncheck anything that looks like it relates to Norton on both of those tabs. It might be worth it to do a google search each Service name and Startup Item name to see what it relates to (for example, a program called ccapp relates to norton, but you would not know it).

Unchecking these items will simply disable them for now. You will want to remember or write down which items you have uncheck, as you may want to turn them back on again later. After you have uncheck all items relating to Norton, click ok, then restart your computer as directed, if your internet works fully now, that means your Norton Internet Security is causing problems, and I would recommend uninstalling it and finding something better.

I get th that exact same message when I click Properties on the IPv6. I beleive it is because IPv6 is not supported by the network card or it's drivers. Not usually a big deal unless you are using IPv6 for something.

I need activation key for vista home premium can anyone help pls

There are several software solutions which can redeem your Operating System serial key. You are using Windows Vista HP as the OS, so using these softwares would lead you to the Product key of Vista and other softwares that are installed onto your computer.

To download the best software (according to me) in Zip format, click on the following link: http://www.magicaljellybean.com/downloads/keyfinder.zip

After downloading this file, unzip it with WinRar or other other similar programs. Now you will find two files in it, Keyfinder.cfg and Keyfinder.exe. Double-click on keyfinder.exe, and this should open up a new window with your OS information and serial key.

For your convenience, I've attached a screenshot below:

If the above program didn't help you, you may try using other programs also. For other programs, go to this link: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/productkeysactivation/tp/topkeyfinder.htm

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay

Whenever i try to connect to the internet using the wireless option the page takes an age to appear and then say BAD REQUEST, i,ve tried using IE7, IE8 and Google Chrome with no luck. I,m using vista home...

Sounds like you have a bad malware infection to me.....go to the link below and download and install. When it installs, allow it to update and run. Perform a quick scan only and when it finishes, click on show results...the infections found will be in red, click on remove selected and Malwarebytes will delete the infections, reboot the laptop and try again.

HP Pavilion dv6000 OS(s)

The product key on the label on the bottom of the laptop will only work for the version of Windows that was installed on that laptop.
You can purchase an upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate and to use in conjunction with the existing Vista Home Premium.

Internet Connectivity Problem

Try This,

Go to the command line and while connected to your modem type the following:

(Wait for each command to finish)

c:> ipconfig /release
c:> ipconfig /renew
c:> ipconfig /flushdns
c:> ipconfig /registerdns

Then attempt to browse one of the sites you were having trouble with.

If that does not fix the problem, then you will need to disable Norton Internet Security temporarily to see if that is causing your problems.

I'll check back to see how you made out.

Let me know how you made out.
