You need to go to the Maintenance/Utilities menu and clean the print heads. Print a 'nozzle check,' and continue to clean the heads until the nozzle check print out looks like it should (no broken or missing lines. Once you're done with that (make sure you have extra ink on hand), go back to the utilities/maintenance menu, and print a 'head alignment' check. Adjust the head alignments, as necessary, and reprint. That should take care of your problem. Again, make sure you have extra ink, as you may run out, and then you can't finish the maintenance/cleaning. Good lick!
take yellow head under the pipe with the hot water running, it should leak yellow ink, take paper towel and gently clean (plain water, NO alcohol), if its not working then read : http://www.nifty-stuff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=241
The most common cause of horizontal banding is generally missing,
deflected or clogged nozzles. To see if this is the cause you should
first print a nozzle check and examine the printout with a 10x or better
eye loupe for any missing or deflected nozzles. If nozzles are missing
or deflected you will need to perform cleaning cycles to recover these
nozzles.
Once all missing nozzles are recovered try printing your document again. If
no nozzles are missing or deflected, check that you are using the
correct driver settings for the type of media you're printing on. Also
try printing at a higher resolution and turning high-speed
(bi-directional) printing off.
The most common cause of vertical banding is over-saturation of the
media, usually created by paper "rippling". To correct this effect,
decrease the saturation and lower the paper suction. If vertical banding
is still apparent print the image with high speed off
(uni-directional). If this corrects the issue, align the print head, as
described on page 5-6 of the Users Guide.
If the print-heads are clogged, and your attempts to "unclog" have failed, it's time to responsibly recycle the printer, and buy a new Epson (hopefully, one that uses the same ink-cartridges that you have been using).
ok..first you will need to print the nozzle check and see if all the color are printed out fine.. this feature is under the printer properties , under the utility tab.... assuming all your colors nozzle are printed fine..then the next thing for you to do is do the Print Head Alignment.. it's under the same place where you print the nozzle check.. when you press the Print Head Alignment, it will print a page out with many lines.. choose the one with the best alignment.. once u done that..try printing the image again.. oh..if your nozzle check print out is not good.. then you will need to perform head cleaning to clear the clogged head..
You don't need to do head alignment, because it is for vertical banding in printout. Vertical banding can be minimized by disabling high speed option without doing head alignment.
If your printout have horizontal white lines, do check nozzle and head cleaning, or you can minimize white lines by printing in best quality (photo).
open printing preferences and click on maintenance. Run the print head alignment utility. Sometimes this will remove the horizontal banding. I had this same problem and had to uninstall the printer and reinstall just like it was new, running the alignment feature before it was corrected. Worked ok for a few days then started again. I assumed that the printhead is bad. To costly to repair and bought a new printer.
You have the classic single nozzle failure it appears. You say you have done a nozzle check. This should reveal that one of the black nozzles is not working i.e. there is a single gap in your nozzle check printout for the black nozzles. Now, this may be due to a blocked nozzle. Try the following print head soak process.
Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean again. If still nothing, report back
