No Sound (just a whisper) from JVC PC55/JW
I love this vintage boombox but it has not been set up for a while andwhen I plug it in the sound is practically inaudible. Speakers arehooked up correctly, can't find anything else on controls that mightaffect the sound.
My son used to move the speakers around to various other systems - would they sound like this if they were blown?
Alsothe light is out in the LED readout window. Any suggestions orinformation on how I can get a repair manual? My husband is prettyhandy and might be able to fix it.

Try and clean the volume control. Take the amp off the deck, remove the screws retaining the front and the front should easily pull away from the unit. I cleaned mine with electrical contact cleaner and compressed air. Not likely a problem with the speakers. Can't help you with the display, but I did here years ago that the displays were known to fail. Watch for a used one on ebay or contact a JVC repair depot, maybe they have one around.
