only spin on 2nd and 3rd gear no 1st, can you help?

  • poptarts Dec 05, 2007

Mine works in speeds 2 and 3, just not in speed one. I turned it on and off and went back and forth between speeds trying to get it realigned or whatever. A spoon fell in the bowl while it was running on speed 1 and it shut itself off. Now when you turn it on in speed 1, the motor still runs, but the beater doesn't turn.

Where you see the beater shaft there is a nut next to it make sure that nut is not to loose or tight.was the mixer overloaded at any point?if this doesnt help you youll have to get into the transmission,i will walk you thru it.

I can't get the main shaft out of an A200 Hobart Mixer to service the lower bearing. Any advice?

Honestly, get someone in that knows Hobart mixers. The a200 is an amazing machine, but you will need to strip the entire gearbox apart to get to the bearings. Take this from someone who works for Hobart :)

Hobart 20QT guessing old a200 motor runs fine removed top cover to see but gears not working and mixer does not spin Any diagnosis Help greatly appreciated

The first vertical shaft has a brass gear that runs off the rotor. The ancient models had a spring loaded slip clutch built onto the gear. Upgrade it with a worm shaft kit which gives you a complete new shaft and fixed gears. I think it includes the upper and lower bearings. Maybe replace the grease if it has not been done. Or look for a sheared key on the worm shaft.

Hobart A200 mixer won't start

My fantastic guy just rebuilt my A200. He says it's likely that your back plate is slightly off center so that the center arbor is touching the windings-- any contact and the machine won't run. The tolerances are thousandths of an inch in there.

Hobart A200 mixer 1st speed doesn't work 2nd and 3rd work fine

Could be that a gear is missing (broken) on the shaft that works the 1st gear. Check out the schematic at

http://www.food-equipment.com/parts_Hobart_mixers.htm

It could be the gear HM2-748

A200 problem

Check the planetary.this is the bottom part of the mixer where you attach the hook.
You will see two nuts; make sure their tight as the planetary may have moved down.
