Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9564J Top Load Washer
The washing machine stops when it gets to the drain cycle and the timer quits moving. Cannot get it to drain or spin. It fills and agitates okay.
Thank yoiu for your information about the Whirlpool top-paod washer lid switch. That seems to be my problem. My model number is 65Q9364HQO. Thanks very much. fred

The symptoms you are describing are usually caused by a bad lid switch. The washer will fill, agitate, but when it starts to go to the rinse cycle, the washer stops and will not advance any further. The lid switch is located on the right hand side of the wash tub opening on most top loader machines. Check to see if it has come loose. There are two screws holding it in place. Additionally, there should be a small plunger on the lid that pushes down on the switch to activate it when the lid is closed. Make sure this plunger is intact. If your washer does not have a lid switch mounted on the right hand side of the lid, it will be located on the left hand side in the rear under the console. A simple test is to open and close the lid and listen for a "clicking" noise. If you can't hear the contacts closing, your switch is probably bad. In the case of the rear mounted lid switch, there is an arm on the lid that activates the contacts. Sometimes the arm becomes bent and will not close the switch contacts. Generally, the repair is simple and a lid switch usually runs about $35. If you post back with your model number I can get an exact part number for you and give you step-by-step instructions on how to replace it. Let me know. I hope this helps you.

This post is to ask how to open the top of the washing machine.
It is a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II model # LSQ2964HQ0. I have
the same problem with the lid switch described above. It will fill with water, agitate, then just sit. I cleaned around the hinges in the door, hoping that I could get the door to shut completely, triggering the lid switch, I also tried to clean around the lid switch, but the problem still persists. If I push down on the lid just lightly, I can hear the switch click. I am very close to throwing the switch.
