1 Answer

Motherboard i unplugged my power supply, speaker, led display all from the mother board and now my computer won't power on i need a manual for my mother board Daughter's 2 year old computer. Series of intermittent shutdowns and rebooting happenings. Finally computer will not boot reliably into bios. Sometimes runs for 10 mins and then cuts out followed by self booting attempts. Tried to reload XP got as far as restarting computer and then crashed out. No BSOD at anytime just blank screen. Have tried reseating CPU thinking heat problem, reseated memory and tried memory stick by stick. no better. Replaced CMOS battery No change. Repeated message "stopped at Checkpoint Ithr or checkpoint Wake UP. Dell say it is not worth repairing! Any help would be welcome

Re: motherboard

One of the greatest factor in intermittent shutdowns is because of heat issues. try to check the fans if they are all spinning. if all fan's are ok then you only need to replace the motherboard. here's a manual that might come in handy

Hope this helps.

Dell 2400 desktop pc will not turn on. Mother board flea led light does turn on.Tested power switch and wiring okay.I did swap power supply pack from a good working 2350 Dell pc same problem any...

Try to remove all components all drives (hard drives, cd/dvd roms, floppy drives, etc), all additional cards (modem, video card, sound card etc), remove the memory. Just leave the motheboard, proc and power supply. Before disconnecting everything completely discharge power by holding down the power button while the computer is unplug from the power. It should clear the flea light on the motherboard.
Test it again with just the motherboard, processor and the power supply. If still no power then most likely it is the motherboard since you already put a known good power supply. Motherboard has higher failure rate than the processor. You can swap a known good processor if there is.

Compaq Deskpro EN 1GHz. power supply is ok. But not start with power on button. Green LED on mother board is on. How can I start this with start button (I think motherboard board problem.

Unplug it from the wall. Remove the side panel. Look for a small circular battery (similar to watch battery). Remove the battery for 30 seconds. Replace the battery, plug it back in. This should reset the bios. Green light on the board does not necessarily say good power supply as well. Very likely motherboard or power supply.

I tried several different cards but no luck. Cards work ok on other computers.

5V Stand-By Indicator LED
The power supply will always supply a 5V standby voltage to your
motherboard so that it can power on via for example Wake On Lan
technology. This LED shows that your power supply is supplying
this standby voltage to your motherboard.n :D

You may need to replace your power supply, if the LED is flashing, it's not supplying the power the motherboard needs.

EMachine T2482 Computer won't power on or boot up.

Try removing the power cable from the power supply. Wait 10 seconds, and replace it again. Try powering up the computer. If it doesn't power up, check that the motherboard has power (there should be a LED on the board which is lit up. Of course, check the fuse also in the plug.

If the LED is on, you have a failed motherboard / Switch. If the LED is off, then you have a failed power supply. Beware though, if the PSU has blown, it could easily have taken the motherboard with it.

No power

Just open ur P.C cabinate and look when the Power supply is on in ur mother board then there is a green light in ur Mother board ; is it on ??
If the LED is on then I hope ur mother board is ok yet.
Then I think there is some connection prob on the pushing button on the cabinate.
Check it if it is not then u have to replace ur mother board.

Sounds like you tried everything except reseating any other hardware that may or may not be placed in another socket such as PCI, AGP, etc... Like a Modem, Network adapter, Sound/Graphics card, Wireless card, etc... This is probably a wasted post as if you knew to check each stick of memory seperatly then you've probably already reseated all socketed hardware. Though, you could remove all non essential hardware such as I mentioned above and try installing Windows again?
Good luck and keep us posted.

New Problem

The manual you need will be on the board manufacturers web page, howevr I will bet you have the case power switch and perhaps the reset switch on the wrong pins on the mother board. To check this, remove the switch leads from the mother board, then use a small screw driver and bridge the pins on the mother board a pair at a time. All of these leads plug on to the board in a line and not across the two lines of pins. when you get the mother board to fire up by this method geet a torch and look closely alongside the pins you will see the letters PWR SW or RS SW. It does not matter what polarity these two sets of leads are plugged onto both will work. The LED lights on the case front will only work if the polarity is correct but it will not do any harm if they are backwords. On the board you should se two sets of pins marked HDD and PWR these are the led light pins you will know you have them right when the usual red and green lights are working at the front of your tower.
