You have what we call 60 Cycle Hum Bar. You also might have audio hum too. The problem is a grounding issue either coming from the source such as a Cable Box or a Sat box. More often this occurs with cable boxes. First unplug the source box from the tv completely. You will find that the Lines have disappeared. Next connect a Coax cable coming from the wall bypassing the Box to the RF input on the tv. If you still have the Lines, then the problem is with the Cable signal not being correctly grounded and you need to call the Cable co.. The Cable box can also be causing this as well. If all of this does not work then try using another set of Component cables as they can cause the same issue.

My Samsung tv has thick horizontal line across top of screen

Check the LVDS cable that connects its T'Con board to display panel for any loose fitting at the both end of its sockets. Re-seat them once and check. This is not a problem with any capacitors. If you wish to get more details, check the site linked here. It has screen-shots to some faulty screens to LCD TVs. Compare them to that of your TVs' and make sure. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts there, either by its left side bar, or view it in Timeslide option.

Hey..i have a thick white line horizontally across the middle of the screen..how can I fix this? TV is a 50

Hello
You haven't given the exact brand name and model number to your TV here for reference. Anyway, if it is an LCD TV, check its CCFL tubes behind the LCD panel for uniform brightness. There will be more that 12 numbers of them. All of them must emit light of same intensity. OK.

Lines down screen

We have a Samsung LE32A457, whilst we were watching T.V tonight the top halve of the screen suddenly appeared with green lines halfway down the screen and that half of the picture was unwatchable, T.V is 2 years old. We have removed all scart leads but this did not help and the problem still exists, when shutting down a white horizontal line across the centre of the screen appears from this line upwards the picture is faulty. Any help or advice would be grateful.

Black line running horizontally across TV screen

A line on an LCD, either horizontal or vertical usually means the video driver board is defective or the screen is defective, does it show up as black even on a dark screen? That means a line of LCD "shutter"s is not working and there is a problem that cant be fixed by a reboot or channel change. Bummer.
