Water line freezing in door of GSL22JFXJLB Side by Side

I've had an issue with the water line in my side by side fridge (GSL22JFXJLB) for sometime now. The only way to keep the line from freezing was to have the small light located at the water dispenser on all the time. Recently that light has been burning out every two weeks from being left on all the time and the water line regardless of the light still freezes. The light had also melted some of the plastic casing inside of the dispenser housing. Here is what I've done to try and fix the problem: * Raising the temperature of the freezing to the warmest setting and just leaving it there. No Change. * Installing part WR49X10173 water tube heater. (Did not work at all) No Change. *Using a hair dryer to thaw out the water line. Will work for about 2 hours, then line freezes again. Is there any part that I can install into the freezer door/dispenser area that will help the water line stayed thawed so I can get filter water from my door?

The problem is the line is freezing up due to obstruction or blockage. which causes the water to back up and freeze, I have used a blow dryer, hot water, and a soft type long tiny tube or cord like material and even a coat hanger but be very careful, to get inside the line and unplug the obstruction or if u can remove the whole line and replace it? but may be very difficult. why was it pluged? some times pc's of plastic bags, old food particles, etc get into the line, doesnt take much

When the filter freezes up, the outside casing may have cracked and will leak water when you dispense water through the door.  You will need to have the filter replaced and that should take care of the problem.  But the filter should never have frozen in the 1st place.  You will need to call a qualified LG technician to see what's going on inside the refrigerator.

SOURCE: Freezer not freezing

Because it stopped cooling so fast, over night, I would make sure the compressor is running and the condenser fan motor that sits next to it.

No water from dispenser and ice

you can disconnect the water line on the bottom of the door behind the kick panel then test the water dispencer if water comes out of the line then there is a blockage of frozen water in the tube in the door.make usr eto disconnect the water line coupler completely
if no water comes out then there is a chance the main water supply valvle is bad. in rare occassions the water lines inside the fridge can freeze.ice in the door can be defrosted by using a blow dryer and blowing air inot the bottom and top of the tube however this process takes some time.sometimes using a long piece of weed eater line and pushing it through the tube can sometimes free up the ice as well this als take alot if time.

If there is ice in the icemaker and its not ejecting the ice you more than likely have a bad heater in your icemaker not heating the cubes for the rake to scoop them out. No water through the door would probably be a separate issue. If its a GE they are known for poor insulation on the freezer door and the water line will freeze going up the inside of the door. If you remove the kickplate there will be a quick connect coupler. remove it from the line going up the door and call for water. If you get water to this point you know the line is frozen through the door. If not then you will want to check your saddle valve for calcium deposits gunking it up. Least common issue would be a bad water valve.

check the door in the dispenser if moisture is condensing and freezing so that the door won't open try manually popping the door open just before you attempt to dispense ice, maybe you'll get lucky, otherwise your going to have to get a technician to come and check the micro-switch for the dispenser

Water does not dispense from door

I found that the door on the GE side by side doors are not accessable and cannot be repaired if a water line inside the door is defective. The entire door must be replaced at a cost of almost $370. The problem, which seems to be quite common relative to the lack of water at the dispenser, is the result of the water tube in the door freezing due to excess cold levels in the freezing compartment. This is probabley due to poor insulation around the water line as in exits near the ice dispenser gate. The solution is simple, lower the freezing level and use water frequently to keep it from freezing. Also, keep the lines clean by changing the filter often if the local water source is laden with particulates. I think GE should foot the bill for changing doors or re-engineer the doors to access the area where the water line makes contact with the cold surface of the inside panal.

Fridge area freezing food; water dispensor line freezing

sometimes when the cooler weather comes in you may need to chnge temp setings to a warmer setting to prevent some items from freezing ie: leafy vegetables, water bottles, eggs, etc etc.

now if you are having total freeze up of everything in the ref section then you could have bad temp control or damper assy.
