Hi Steven,

the power is or will be needed. Your unit is a single monitor... are you trying to make it a dual screen setup?

What is the target OS... ? How are you connecting *(USB or PS2) to the PC?

-If you use PS2 you might have to reboot your PC
Is the PC DVI or VGA?

I hope that helps getting you up and running

I connected the same keyboard/mouse/vga to the same avocent switch, sometime it works and sometimes it does not. Any ideas?

Turn off your IDLE settings and don't let the server go into IDLE.

Check that and see if that makes a difference.

I have an Avocent Switchview SC4 DVI hooked up to an HP monitor and an HP computer with a NVidia 9500GT dual DVI card in it. If you hook the monitor directly to the computer it works. However, I can't get...

Is your switch a SCxPDV or a SC4UAD? Regardless, if it's a DVI switch, you can try place a DVI-D cable in between your HP PC and the switch. Do the same between the switch and the HP monitor. I'm guessing you are currently using a DVI-I cable between the PC and the switch. Some video card/OS combo send out analog signal when you use a DVI-I cable on the PC, which would not be displayed if you are using the digital port on the monitor. To read up on the difference between DVI-I and DVI-D cables, check out

For future Avocent product related questions, I suggest you post them at Avocent's user forum as it's monitored by their tech support team.

Hope this helps. Thanks.

Our controlled equipment works with an AMIQ-USB on an AMX 5010 w/ AMX 5130 system, but when using an AVRIQ-USB on an AutoView 3016 the mouse only moves up and down, not left and right. Holding down one of...

You are using the wrong IQ module, the AV is used for AutoView were the AMIQ is used for AMX systems.

Always check the first 2 letters of the IQ module, that will indicate for which appliance that module is or intended to.

ex. DSAVRIQ will work on DSRs, AutoViews, and the newer Mergepoint Unity

The DSRIQ works with DSRs and Mergepoint Unity

HMIQSHDI work only for HMX systems and in this case only on HMX1070

I have an Avocent DSR 8035 kvm. I am using it for remote management to a HP G4 DL380 server and my video cards are dying out. THis has happened 3 times. I s this a know issue

Is it always the same one computer (out of the 32 computers that are connected) that is burning-out the video-card, or is your _OWN_ computer (that is connected directly to the KVM) that is burning-out the video-card?

Is your computer overheating, and burning-out your video-card?

Have you tried a different computer?

By default to bring up the On Screen Display press:

If you flash the firmware to the latest, you can change that key sequence for the OSD to either PrintScrn, CTRL+CTRL or SHIFT + SHIFT.

USB mouse not recognized

I have similar problem. 2 inland KVM's (both have PS2 inputs, one has USB outputs) do not light or recognize my usb mouse with a PS2 adapter. They do recognize a PS2 ball mouse on the KVM's however. One of the computers (Sony vaio 1.5 GHz) does recognize a usb mouse with adapter on 2 other KVM's (Old Belkin and a Trendnet) (the second computer I have not tried in those configurations). Next I will try an optical mouse with a PS2 fitting. That did work with a fifth KVM at an auto business last week.
