The ball bearings are shot on this unit. I have a matching dryer, that still works fine, stacked on top of this washer. I'm told this washer is no longer produced by Sears. Can I buy a newer unit and still get it to stack? If so, how and what model?

The only other information I can find is P/N 134191000(0209). That is from the Use and Care Guide. Does that help?

I found the model numbers. The washer is 417 44042400 and the dryer is 417 93042300.

If you post the whole model number we might be able to locate parts. IT would be something like: 417.44042400

The bearing is not sold seperately. IT comes with the rear of the drum assembly and is 250 dollarshttp://www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Par...

Why does my dryer not start, but the washer is fine?

Hello Jennifer Christie, thank you for your post!

I see that you have replaced the belt and bearing drum in your Frigidaire dryer but the unit does not start. It sounds like you could be experiencing an issue within the motor or timer. I would recommend having a professional come out to properly diagnose and repair your appliance, to avoid any further unnecessary part purchases. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

Loud squealing sound when the basket first spins up this is a Kenmore stacked set, washer on the bottom, and dryer on top

Your problem could be a bad bearing...The drum rides in a bearing at the rear middle of unit..Its basically a plastic insert...When the dryer is first started the bearing will squeal until the plastic warms up..Normally you will hear the squeal at the back middle of dryer...Your problem may also be the belt tensioner...Again a plastic wheel with a metal bearing inside...Normally this squeal will be from start to finish..

My dryer makes this high pitch screaming noise...what's going on?

In the cradle where the center drum bearing fits is a plastic bearing mounted on a metal bracket. When that plastic bearing wears down the ball begins to contact the metal bracket. Bad things are ahead also. Because now as the drum turn the bracket is cutting into the ball.c44ef56.jpg

Squeaky Belt when dryer is running. However the dryer is working (heating) fine

Very possibly not the belt but the associated components like the drum: motor bearings bearing strips support:rollers (if you have them) etc. Truthfully i would just continue untill something malfunctions then do an extensive repair. Once you start repairing these small ****, it esculates into a relatively large expence.

I have a Kenmore washer model no.4174102000 that has broken and was advised it cannot be fixed. I have a Kenmore stackable dryer model no.41781042000 and am being told by Sears that I have to buy a new...

a stack unit is a very risky investment, altho it's understandable if you have limited space. if the hold downs on the washer are rusted out or broken thru you need to have someone weld them for you. That's how we used to do it where I worked but stacks are not usually easily worked on. I'm afraid you will probably have to get an entirely new unit or maybe a used one from a reputable used appl. dealer in your area. Check around, you might get lucky and find one relatively inexpensive
