Hello try to.

1. Shut down the notebook and remove the AC adapter.

2. Remover *both* the RTC battery and the power battery.

3. Wait 5-10 minutes. The longer you wait, the better.

4. Reinsert the AC adapter *only* and reboot.

5. On most models, the password is removed.

6. Power down, remove the AC adapter again and replace the two batteries.

7. Resume normal operation if possible. If the password is still there, you MUST get assistance from HP technical support.

Also I suggest that you buy a new RTC battery.

hope it works

    Did it work?

thx for the low vote.... not worth spending time trying solve problem to person like you...anyway

its the hp chip that has a problem and only way is to have a exactly same computer to switch the chip with and start with the chip. and to do that you need to contact hp live support and explain your problem.

also I dont think you have tried to buy a new RTC battery or have you? several person claim that the problem is solved after hcanging the bios battery.

The reason why your password is still re-curring after removing the CMOS battery is because when you were doing so, some of the cables supplying power to the Board were still plugged.
So before using the CMOS removing method, first make sure that you have disconnected ALL source of power supply cable from the Board, then remove the CMOS Battery for a few seconds, and re-insert it. It should work like that.

Hi i want to remove hp nx5000 laptop cmos password

1.3 Clearing a Password
If the notebook you are servicing has an unknown password,
follow these steps to clear the password. These steps also
clear CMOS.
1. Prepare the notebook for disassembly (Section 5.3).
2. Remove the real time clock (RTC) battery (Section 5.18).
3. Wait approximately 5 minutes.
4. Replace the RTC battery and reassemble the notebook.
5. Connect AC power to the notebook. Do not reinsert any
battery packs at this time.
6. Turn on the notebook.
All passwords and all CMOS settings will have been cleared.

I want to enter setup of my hp530 laptop but when i press F10 it shows me stup password please help me out.

It seems that your HP Machine's BIOS is password protected. You can only get the password removed by either entering a correct password or removing the CMOS battery.

The CMOS battery is located inside the system under the HDD. You will have to open the Cover of the System. The battery is wrapped in a insulated plastic cover.
It will be similar to this image:

If you are able to access and remove the battery, Keep it removed for atleast 5 - 15 minutes and then replace it. This will reset the BIOS password and you should be able to move into the BIOS (setup screen).

Hope you find this information helpful. Please feel free to contact for any further assistance.

I have a satellite A105 and When i turn it on it asks for password but I don't have the password. So how to I get past this to be able to use it again?

just remove the cmos battery

the bios stores the password and the cmos battery provides it power to store it

if you remove cmos battery the bios reverts to factory settings and the password is removed

cmos battery is different than the laptop backup battery

cmos battery is found inside the laptop case on the motherboard, you will have to open the laptop to remove the cmos battery

Jumper location motherboard blade 2, dell latitude x300.

The password is not on the battery it is in the volatile memory.

The battery supplies the power to the volatile memory to make sure it retains its settings.

If you have removed the Cmos battery and when you put it back the machine still has a password then the password is written into the non-volatile memory and cannot be re-set that way.

Get a hold of someone with ERD Commander and they will drop the password off in a couple of minutes

HP530 bios resetting

The only way to clear the password in BIOS is to open the cover and take out the battery on the motherboard. It is not hard to find on the motherboard, it looks like a watch battery. Take it out, wait about 5 mintues. then put it back in and boot. That will clear the BIOS password.

How to reset power-on password.

The only way is to clear the cmos settings. However, there is a special way to do it. First you have to take out the battery and the power adaptor from the laptop. Then you need to open the laptop and look on the main board for the cmos battery. Take it out for a few minutes, maybe 5 - 10 minutes. Then plug in the power adaptor without the cmos battery nor the laptop battery and boot the computer. It will ask you to hit F1 to either load default values or to save settings. Do that. Then shut down the computer. Make sure settings is saved though. Put in back the cmos battery and the laptop battery. When you reboot, it should boot up with no password.
