I tried putting on a new game and it asked me to update first, I did this and as it was loading it turned off. Ever since it has turned on but no light comes up and then after about 30 seconds it turns itself off! Do you know what may have happened?
You have what is known as a "brick." It is caused by a PSP being improperly turned off in the middle of the update.
When it's coming up with that black screen, it's trying to load but failing to get the OS loaded correctly, which is what is causing the problem.
Your firmware needs to be re-flashed. Fortunately, this CAN be done.
What you'll need:
- A spare memory card (64MB size should be sufficient).
- A spare PSP battery to turn into a Pandora (service mode) battery
- A friend with a working PSP and custom firmware loaded.
