HI,
Frankly if you ask me upgrading the processor and the video card is not advisable as it can cause heat related issues on a portable. You can buy a new decent laptop in the same as you would spend upgrading the old war horse. Personal recomendation is a Dell Inspiron 14
Thanks

You don't want to upgrade the cpu. As for the video card it can't be changed as its build into the laptop motherboard.
I would highly recommend that you instead upgrade the ram memory on the laptop since it will give you a bigger performance increase than a new cpu or video card.
The machine only has 256MB of ram, get atleast 512MB or 1024 /1gb of ram and it will work much better.

Well, I have already replaced the motherboard and the memory (now at 2gb... max for this particular laptop)as well as the screen inverter. I managed to get these items at little to no cost from a friend if you're wondering why I didn't just spend the money on a new laptop. I also completely reformatted the drive with Vista. On closer look, the video card is built in. So scratch that. The current processor is a Celeron M 479 mPGA socket which is currently running at 1.4 ghz. I understand that the Pentium M runs at 2.0 ghz with a higher buss speed but at a lower core speed. I currently own a XPS 1730 so I might just be getting a little greedy with this. (also wondering about broadcom adapters and the modem if thoes can even be upgraded since I can't seem to find any information on them). After the memory upgrade, the CPU still constantly runs at a 28% through 40% with no activity. If that is still kosher, then that's okay. If it is still impratical to upgrade the CPU due to incompatability or because of overheating issues, then I guess I can be fine with that. :)
