Presario SR 1055CL will not turn on I believe its the on off switch

If the computer started giving you trouble turning on before it failed, it is probably the power supply and not the switch itself. To check, you will need to take the computer case off. There are usually 2 power switches on a pc. The first one disconnects the incoming line voltage completely. Make sure this switch is on before you try the other power switch. The second power switch actually starts the computer. The power disconnect switch is a toggle (or latch), that is, it retains its position. The switch that actually starts your pc is a momentary contact switch. To test the momentary start switch, you will need to take the cover off. Be careful not to damage anything and watch out for exposed voltages. If you pay attention, it is not dangerous. All you need to do is short the 2 wires that go to the case switch momentarily. Once shorted, the motherboard latches on until a power failure or shutdown. Note that you do not want to keep the 2 switch wires shorted, since this will prevent the pc from booting. Just short them for about as long as you normally push the power button in. If the switch is bad, they are not usually difficult to replace. You should be able to find a part number on the switch, as well as manufacturer. While it seems like all the case switches are custom per model, they are not. The actual switch itself is actuated by a plastic button on the case.

The power button completely broke off my emachine T3090 desktop. How can I get computer to start-up without this button?

You should be able To just reach in there and press it anyways. It depends what emachines uses, but normally it is a little white plastic thing that the button pushes, because it does nothing itself.

Got a machine but it keeps switching off after few minutes could it be power switch on front if so where can i get one

It isnt the power switch, it's the power supply itself. You need to get a new one from, or

Emachines are notorious for their bad power supplies, and they usually burn out the motherboard when they die. Stop pushing that button and get a new Power supply before your board messes up.

Power switch (E-Machines T2542) is broken. Will not turn on again after turning off. Have to leave computer on all the time because afraid will not be able to turn it on again if I turn it off. Anyone know...

I don't have the same model as you, but I think you're having the same issue as me. I'm assuming the switch on the front has physically "stuck" in the case? First of all, restart your computer and enter the BIOS. This is usually done by hitting the Del, F1, or F2 key as it is starting up. It may even tell you which key to press as it is starting. Once you're in, look around for the setting which governs what the computer should do when power is lost. Adjust the setting so the computer switches itself back on when power is restored, then hit F10 to save your settings and exit. If someone shuts the computer off after this, you can get it back on by switching it off at the wall for 5 minutes and then switching it back on. The PC will register power loss/restoration and hopefully come on on its own __ As for an actual solution, I can't find spare parts. In the end, I cut a hole in the front of the case and wired my own switch in. If you decide to go this route, it is better to use a biased switch ( ) as it mimics the function of the original. You might be able to temporarily fix the stuck switch by taking off the little silver cover with the 'e' on, then using a paperclip, pencil, or screwdriver (all of which i have used before) to pull it back into its original position. Hope this helps

My emchine desktop T3062 turns on by Itself

try going into bios and making sure In the bios look for WOL - wake on lan...make sure it is disabled.
also look for PME -Power Management Event disable it too.

If that doesn't help you may need a new power switch.( may be sticking)
Hope this helps.
