Bose Acoustic Wave music system II - Graphite Gray When the system is plugged in to the wall or an outlet, (and I have tried 3 different rooms, with no problems on the Harmon Cardon or Panasonic or JBL systems also in the house), there is a very high pitched sound that emits from the two main speakers when turned off or on. (The system does not say Off on the LED screen, it says Standby and I don't kboyer if that is normal. I am going to have to return it if there is no resolution. It gives me a massive headache. It reminds me of one of those pest control units that is plugged in that is so annoying. This is actually hurtful. Please advise.

Hi Karen, I ran an international audio company's Tech support division for a few years. Sorry the answer was a bit terse, but in reality, don't waste any more time. Bose will happily replace it.

SOURCE: Bose Companion II Computer Speaker: The AC power adapter burnt

My puppy chewed through the cord for my a/c adapter, I just took the speakers into Circuit City, and they found me a workable replacement (the replacement isn't BOSE, but it works just fine).  Hope that helps!

SOURCE: Does the Bose companion 3 have an internal fuse?

Yes. The companion 3 system can be repaired for $75. Call Bose at 800-367-4008. They will also give you a new 1 year warranty.

SOURCE: Bose Companion 3 Series II not working (Mac)

The speakers seem to be muted by default - you'll see that the LED is yellow/amber. Tap the control pod - the LED will turn green and speakers will work. I felt like such an idiot after I spent almost an hour trying to figure this out. (This feature should be more prominent in the manual.)

SOURCE: Bose Companion 3 series II speakers aren't producing sound (imac)

from what I've read, the imac has a 3.5mm (.138) jack while the Bose jack is 1/8 (.125). very small difference in size (.013), but enough to cause problems.

Can the new 5 cd changer work with the older Bose

It will work as a manually-operated AUX input, but since there was no remote for the original system so that function won't be available.

I have a bose acoustic wave, single disc model CD-3000. The CD is not working, the CD spins but won't play. The radio works great.

Had the same problem. Mine the cd drive got out of alignment. Sorry to say the fix is to have it replaced. BOSE will do this for about $150. Typically this includes the one year service agreement, a full system "tune up" and a one year warrenty.

Call BOSE and they will take care of you.

Player will not play cd - it reads then says

Your CD player is failed. It will need to be replaced. Some folks can repair but it cost less to have it replaced. If no one local will do it BOSE will for about $150.

Bose Acoustic Wave music system popping speaker

Had the same problem on the same machine 15 or so years ago...took it to the Bose factory shop in Framingham (or real close )Massachusetts, and they fixed it in 20 minutes...cost around $50...at the time they said it was a real common problem, and an easy fix.

CD's skip, then completely stop playing on my 1999 acoustic wave

Sounds like a maintenance issue - try cleaning the disc lens using a standard disc lens cleaner (you can buy in many high street stores) or using a lint-free cloth on the glass eye.
Otherwise, contact Bose.

Bose in France

If you don't have your user guide any more, you can view, but not download it here:

http://products.bose.com/pdf/customer_service/owners/og_awmsii.pdf

Bose has blocked the download of the .pdf file for whatever reason.

If you check it you will see that it is compatible with international AC voltages (220-240) but France uses a different AC receptacle than the US so you will need the correct power cord.
As far as frequency bands; Europe uses much the same for AM & FM but some bands not used in the US won't be available with the Bose.

Because the user is supposed to be an idiot, they have very little detail in their manual besides what is necessary to operate it, they do not specify whether the power supply is auto-switching for different AC voltages or not. Most modern electronics uses a type of supply that will accept anything from 100-240 VAC and that kind of supply doesn't care much what the line frequency (50 or 60Hz) is since they do not use low frequency AC transformers.

Typically, their customer service phone line is answered qjuickly and by knowledgeable people so I recommend you call them with the request for the needed AC power cord and ask them about the means of accommodating French line voltage.

You didn't mention where you live so you will have to check for the proper current toll-free number on page 27 of the online user guide linked above.

When the display is out? Does the backlight ever come on? If so, then there is no way to change this. If the backlight doesn't come on, contact Bose for service.
