The small click noise is the parking brake releasing to allow you to drive. the flashing is called a flash code that will give you an idea of what is wrong. count the amount of lights flashing this would indicate the problem. Post the amount of lights flashing and some could give you the meaning of the code.
Be sure the free-wheel \ brake release handles are set to drive\lock position prior to turning on. After that, if chair still does not move, you will need to count the flashes on the joystick to determine the error or issue with the chair. A user manual can be purchased on ebay.
Your version has a Dynamic Controls model controller and joystick. Unplug the charger and engage the motor/brake lever so the chair is no longer in free-wheel mode (con't push by hand) Turn the chair off, wait 5 seconds, turn the chair back. If chair still does not run and your wrench is flashing you have a problem. Count the wrench flashes - the flash count indicates the error detected. 3, 4, 5, and 6 flashes indicate and error with the motors. 3=Left motor fault 4=Right motor fault 5=Left brake fault (may not be engaged) 6=Right brake fault (may not be engaged) Any other fault code usually means the electronics or wiring is bad and not worth fixing.
The wrench symbol being lit indicates a problem. Does the wrench symbol blink? when you try to engage the joystick the brakes should try to engage and you would hear them click and the symbol will flash. The number of flashes telling you what is wrong. If the symbol is not flashing and staying on then that also a probem but you can't tell what it is. Either way the chair will have to be checked by a tech that has a programmer to plug into the chair and read the error codes to determine the problem. Check with your provider that sold you the chair to see if they can troubleshoot the chair for you or contact Invacare Tech Support @ 1-800-333-6900 and explain your problem. Sorry I can't give you a definite answer Hope this helps
Zim When you turn the power on and all the lights on the battery level are lit and you move the joystick forward Do you hear a clicking sound coming from the motors? You are not getting any flashes on the lights? If you don't hear the electric brakes energize or click when you move the joystick then they are probably stuck to the motor housing. Try putting the chair in freewheel and trying to push it like a manual chair. It should roll freely. If it doesn't then the brakes are stuck and you won't get any sort of error code. I don't know what brand of chair you have so I can't tell you what steps to take to free up the brakes. Try rocking the chair back and forth to freeup the brake pads when you have it in freewheel If you are mechanically inclined you can take the brakes off the back of the motors and try to unstick the pads but be careful not to break the wiring from the motor harness to the brakes. Let me know if this helps
Your chair has a motor problem. The code does not tell which side it is. Make sure both motors have the brakes in the drive position before turning on the chair. Also check that both motors are plugged into the main control module in the base of the chair.
