Dear sir I am trying to connect Model Et104, my questions are as follows: I am having a problem connectiing your system. Both power source 110v and 220 volts have to connect to your system???? If my...

Fixya answers questions about other people's products.

I specialize in timers.
Intermatic is changing their product line
I suggest you download the manual:
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/et104c%20-%20english.ashx

The manual is generic across all the ET100 series products.
The manual does not describe individual models.
The instructions are on the timer door.
Look for the clock voltage.
The clock voltage tells the story of your timer model.

NOW lets say your clock voltage is 120V.
I believe you suspect the clock voltage is 120V.

To make this timer work with your 240V cable, there are 2 methods

Method 1) To meet code, run a white wire from nearby 120V receptacle.
This is a Neutral wire.
Connect the Neutral to terminal 1
Connect one leg from the 240V cable (1 of the 240V wires) to terminal 2 and that will complete the 120V circuit and the clock will run.
This is true because each leg of a 240V circuit is actually 120V, and only when the two legs are combined do they produce the 240V circuit

Method 2) Connect bare ground wire to terminal 1 and to grounding screw
The bare wire connects to the Neutral busbar in the main breaker box, so it will complete the 120V circuit just as described above.
This is not code, but your clock will operate.
Then connect one leg from the 240V cable to the terminal 2

IF your clock is 240 V, then connect both legs of the 240V cable to terminals 1 and 2

My EH40 is not supplying power to the water heater. I hooked the power line in to posts 1 and 2 and I hooked the load out to posts 4 and 6. When I use my power checker it reads no power to posts 3,4,5,...

I have an EH 40 sitting in front of me right now.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-EH40-hot-water-heater-timer.html
The link above shows correct 240V water heater timer wiring for EH40
Link below shows an overview picture of EH 40 connected to 240V water heater
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/EH40-water-heater-circuit-5.jpg
http://waterheatertimer.org/240-v-water-heater-circuit.html

EH40 has a 240V clock.
Terminals 1 and 2 send power to the 240V clock
Power to the clock terminals do not pass through timer to any other terminal

How to wire EH40 for 240V
240V line has 2 hot wires from breaker box.
Lets call these wires Hot1 and Hot2
These wire are interchangeable on 240V circuit
Hot1 connects to terminal 1 with a jumper to terminal 3 (or connect to 3 and jumper to 1)
Hot2 connects to terminal 2 with a jumper to terminal 5 (or connect to 5 and jumper to 2)

240V circuit has 2 wires going to the Load
Let's call these Load1 and Load2
These wires are interchangeable on 240V circuit
Load1 connects to terminal 4
Load2 connects to terminal 6

If the timer is still not working, go back to the breaker and test if it is delivering 240V to the circuit.
If breaker is bad on one leg, then the circuit can test with live power, but the 240V appliance will not work.
240V circuit requires both legs of 240V before circuit is complete.

Re: combi boiler.

if you have hot water at the taps but the heating isn't working make sure the thermostat is set high enough for the boiler to run check the time clock settings are on.
if these are working it could be a faulty diverter valve switch not sending a signal to the boiler to run.

Clock on comi boiler

it may be the preheat setting on the boiler for the hot water circuit. do the radiators get hot when the boiler fires up with the time clock off ? if not then there is nothing to worry about if it is only on for a short time.

Ariston Microgenus 27mffi combi boiler

im an engineer and recently had exactly the same thing with this ariston boiler, i found out it was the the 'air pressure switch', this is a switch which is part of the ignition, it works in conjuction with the fan. when the boiler fires up the air pressure switch makes, if its faulty it can break the circuit mid flow and cause the burner to shut down therefore giving intermittent hot water and heating, theres a possibility that the aps tubes may be damaged as well so ensure they'e condition is good. hope this helps you
