I have a desktop flat face Realistic scanner about 16 years old and has been working fine. Some buttons were pushed by a child and now the weather channel is all that comes on by pushing wx. What buttons do I mash to get the scanner back to the police channel? It looks like it is scanning but nothing happens.I have a desktop flat face Realistic scanner about 16 years old and has been working fine. Nope... seems that since Radio Shack folded up it's tents almostall of the old links have dried up! And GEE, I had one of these scanners but have no idea where it is now?
A FEW of the exceptions follow...
PROGRAMMING
This Link is for the Pro-2021 BUT your PRO-2039 programming will be much the same!
Hello, your scanner appears to be a 10 channel crystal controlled scanner. I'm estimating it to be around 30-40 years old. I think there is a couple companies still making custom crystals but you have to find the freq's #'s to give them. Here is the freq. range it will pick up.
Frequency range RX
30-50 / 144-174 / 450-512 MHz
I personally would take the money spent for crystals and apply it towards a newer scanner that is programmable so no crystals needed. Here's a link to some more info;
These steps were listed on their website:
PROGRAMMING CHANNELS
1. Turn on your scanner by turning the volume clockwise.
2. The scanner might start scanning. If so, press MANUAL to stop the scanning.
3. Enter the channel number that you want to program and press MANUAL.
4. Enter a frequency including the decimal point. The decimal point shows up on the display as a -- (dash).
5. Press Enter to store the frequency.
6. To confirm the proper entry, press REVIEW. The programmed frequency appears on the display one digit at a time.
7. To program more channels repeat steps 3-4. (IR-07/29/96)
Wow, that's a real oldie -- circa 1981. To program it: 1. Power the scanner ON. 2. Press MANUAL . 3. Select the channel that you wish to program. You can do this by repeatedly pressing the MANUAL key, or enter the desired channel (01 - 20) followed by the MANUAL key. 4. Press PROGRAM. 5. Enter the desired frequeny, including the decimal point (e.g., 156.55). 6. Presto ENTER. 7. To program more frequencies, press PROGRAM and then repeat steps 2 through 6.
