Logitech quickcam pro 5000 Install wizard on boot up

I have recently installed the quickcam and it works fine, but everytime I boot up my PC the install wizard screen appears as though I have not completed the installation.

Same Problem

Jan 22, 2009

-   I installed the software for Logitech Quickcam 5000 pro on a dell laptop with windows xp pro. Now every boot the wizard starts up to install the software
The software was installed exactly according to instructions, Firewall down Antivius off and camera unplugged until installer instructed to do so.
This cannot be stopped even after an un install and a manual picking out of every registry entry made during the install and also windows installer clean-up utility does not work on this one. I have tried restoring to a point many days before and still the installer starts after boot. Yet again Logitech has be slack at software testing.

-   Not only did my Quickcam start an install on every boot, it was causing blue screens...even after I did a manual uninstall and used Logitech's own complete uninstall tool.
Finally, I had to do a system restore to before I installed the Logitech software, and, unfortunately, that was on the first day I set up the computer, I had to put everything back on, Firefox, lefty cursors, the works.
Now I'm without a webcam and don't dare try another Logitech, though it gets top rating from Cnet and PCmag.

Normal 0 Did you install the software with the camera connected to the computer? Disconnect the camera from the USB port and reinstall the software. When the program asks you to connect the camera, do so, and it should work. Hope this is of some help. Bud

Below is info for setting up Audio & Video to chat on line after you install , either Skype or a messenger program.

Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:

  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: You audio and video shoud work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud
