Question about SanDisk Sansa e250 MP3 Player

My Sansa e250 shows a file called "system" when connected to the pc and doesn't play the music files on its own

My Sansa e250 shows up like two separate disk drives when plugged into the pc, The one contains a File named "system " and the other two files which are called "system" and "tmp". I can copy files from the pc to Sansa but then I can not hear them when the Sansa is unplugged.
The drivers used are : disk.sys, PartMgr.sys.
Please Help me

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out:
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

When I open up my sansa e250 files in my computer, I cannot locate the file where my music is stored. The files that appear are my photo, video, record, and a tmp file. The tmp file has nothing in it.

are you able to see all your music files in your sansa player? if yes, try to play those songs from your mp3 player. then you can format your mp3 player directly without connecting to the computer. before doing that check whether you have all the files as backup. after formatting, once again transfer all the songs, files you need. this solve your problem.

It doesn´t recognized the music files

is the music files in the music folder? (its a hidden folder stupidly enough so is hidden files turned on in your operating system?)
are they mp3 or wav files? If the answers are no - now you know why.

Press and hold for 20 seconds the ON and PLAY (>||) buttons at the same time.

From initial appearances, it would seem that you are running out of disk space with your Sansa e250. Should this have happened, there is a strong possibility that the filing system would also have been corrupted. The best would be to reformat and/or perhaps even to re-install the firmware. This is so as to start fresh/anew.

Incidentally, computerrep, anoother resident expert is with Sansa/Sandisk, you may have better luck with his able assistance. In a similar concern, he has posted this solution.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

WAV files don't playback and show as "BadTracks"

well, probably because where you downloaded it from, the website had an error. To put music on, just go on MY COMPUTER, find your sansa mp3 in it, go to your music, copy a song, go back to the sansa list and hit paste.

you have to make all kind of files visible..

open my pc. then click on tools, then go for the second tab that must be VIEW,, and then click on the option view all kind of files..

still.. i kind of doubt that THAT, will fix your problem, but that is how you can see hidden files..
still ive got you this nice picture so you can see what i am talking about

Player doesn't display some files

where did you get the songs from? make sure the files are in mp3 file format not in another format and make sure they are playing properly before transferring them to the player. The player can support MP3 and WMA files. IF you are sure they are mp3 format the player using USB mode and then retransfer them to the player.

Sansa won't charge or load.

Plug it into the computer (the cord you would use to charge it and transfer files), and hold down the power button for at least 15 seconds. The Sansa should then begin to turn on and start charging. :)

Empty folder

There may be possible reasons why your Sansa E250 would display an message on the LCD even when you've downloaded files to it: (1) The music file type is not supported by the player. Sansa players support only MP3 and WMA files. To determine what file type your have, right click on the file type and it should display the "properties" dialog box. Check if it is MP3 or WMA. For example, iTunes music files will not work with the player, nor will WAV or MIDI files. (2) Your music files are supported but the bit rate is not within the range that the player supports. Sansa players support MP3 files up to 128 KBPS and WMA files up to 64 KBPS. You may need to use a 3rd party music file editor to convert the files to a supported bit rate (3) You may have saved your music files in a folder and copied the folder to the player. Your Sansa E250 will not recognize folders. Either save them in the root directory or inside the "Music" folder -- your player's default folder for music files. Hope this info helps :)
