JD X595 4x4 mower - Starts OK, BUT, as soon as the brake is released, the motor cuts out.

JD X595 4x4 mower - PTO was cutting out intermittently, so cleaned all the switch and connector contacts under the dash. Now it will start OK, BUT, as soon as the brake is released, the motor cuts out. Also, with foot on brake and engaging PTO, motor dies - Panel lights now show Charge light on when engine is running which wasn't happening before. Used to also get solenoid click noise when ignition turned on motor not running and pulling on the PTO switch, now there is no sound of activation !! I haven't mixed the connectors while cleaning them, did one at a time. Cleaned and CRC'd the seat switch too. This is a total mystery, since nothing was changed. ** I disconnected the battery BEFORE disconnecting and cleaning the connectors ** Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would try bypassing the seat switch and the brake switch. Do this one at a time to determine if the switch is bad. Also buy some Sta-bil fuel stabilizer and gel remover. I recommend this for any seasonal equipment. Often the engine is not getting enough fuel and will stall when the pto is engaged. Sta-bil often rectifies this problem.

You have a bad safety somewhere, heres a few places to check, your seat switch if thats bad it thinks theres no one on the the mower and it wont let you cut grass, reverse switch some mowers wont let you cut in reverse in case kids are around, brake switch which should be working since your able to turn on the mower, check your pto switch as well could be bad but my guess is the seat switch let us what you find

While I was cutting grass the Engine shut down. Pulled the brake up. Push the PTO back down to shut the blades down. I started the engine, engine runs perfect.

Have you checked the safety switch under the seat? Operator presence is required on most equipment today to properly function. If the seat switch isn't closed, it will shut the engine down if the parking brake is released and/or the blade PTO switch is engaged. Unplug the seat switch and place a jumper into the seat switch receptacle to the wiring harness; not the male plug to the seat switch. If you can start the mower, disengage the parking brake, and engage the mower blades (with your other switches reconnected) without engine shut down, replace the seat switch.

Have a cub cadet 50 inch cut zero turn, after cutting grass for 30 min or so it acts like wants to die but if I shut the PTO off it catches up but will start to die if I reengage the blades. starts a

When it starts cutting out and you turn off the PTO, how long do you have to wait until it can be turned on again? It sounds as if your PTO is overheating and loading down the engine. Run the mower for about 10 minutes, shut it off, and carefully feel the PTO housing. Resume cutting and repeat after it starts cutting out.

Replacing it is not as simple as changing the spark plug, but does not require an advanced degree.

Mower runs great, until you engagew the PTO. Brakes open fully, any suggestion?

sounds like the seat safety switch is not working. Check to see if both wires are connected to that switch. If they are.. then disconnect them, jump them together and see if mower runs Ok

check the safety switches start with the one on the seat then the one on the clutch/brake pedal then the reverse cut out switch bypass them one at a time with a paper clip to test them also look for a loss connection at all the same switches

Mower cuts out

I would check the seat switch first. I had one that did that that ended up being a bad cell in the battery and a faulty charging system. Does it have an amp gauge on it to see if its charging ok?

One other thing....you say that it tries to stay running when you slightly depress the brake...is that including the pto? www.nnyparts.com
