Hi to all.I am thinking of buying a 2nd hand 2013 Suzuki APV SGX 1.6l Automatic with 19,000km mileage only. Everything is tiptop but when the engine is on, very visible white smoke comes out from tailpipe even while on idling. This is the deadbreaker, can anybody help out what is causing this white smoke? Second, while the car has still 1 year left in its 3year warranty period, the previous owner has no record of having the car serviced for its 1st 1000km, 5000km, etc. Will this void the warranty? Thanks to all! Noel

Is this your first car, or first year driving in winter?
are you in USA or canada? (we are a USA forum here so???)
if yes, Suzuki is chapter 11, here and getting many parts are a PAIN.
big pain. dont buy SUzuki cars. , in N.America. bingo !
but my guess you are not here, in USA or N.America
but are far from here, right? km is canada or outside here.

and x2 never buy smoking engines.
(i do but for dirty cheap and fix em)

white smoke smells like burning smoke, RUN,, lingers.long time it does.
Fast dissipated smoke, (it's not smoke sorry!)
is steam it's normal all cars do that and more cold, weather. all fuels burns to water as a byproduct of combustion, but will smell like exhaust only. (carbon and exh. smell, all very normal)
but if the steam continues, and smells of antifreeze and nasty
sweet smel,l RUN.

buy a Nissan. or Honda. never any Suzuki ever.
the question is ,where next will they go bankrupt. hummmmmmmmmmm

Don't buy it! White smoke, other than a small amount from condensation in the exhaust, is a sure sign of coolant burning in the cylinders, at least one or more of them is burning coolant. It's a big expensive repair bill.

Hi please advise Is the Hyandai Elantra 2013 gls a good car to buy. Thanks in advance

Hyundai make is a good quality vehicle from new and have been known to last 10 years plus with regular maintenance and care for very little cost in parts
However buying second hand , there is no record of lack of maintenance , abuse , smashes rust etc so you have to make sure that you have to get an accredited service inspection shop to inspect the vehicle first
remember that it is second hand and if the mileage on the speedo is not around the 60K miles mark be suspicious

I am thinking of buying a 1996 k1500 pickup. it has 192000 miles, automatic trans and is 4wd. I think its a v6.Is there any common problems i shoud look out for?

It's a 4.3 litre V6 engined PU.

These vehicles are not reliable at this age and mileage (nor were they when near new) so you will be buying yourself a repair bill unless a heap of items on the vehicle have been renewed.

At 192000 miles the vehicle is passed it's useful life.

There are numerous problems from bad axle seals to engine and transmission issues, brake problems, various electrical problems, fuel pump failures etc etc. You need to check everything especially the auto which will fail and is not cheap to replace.

High mileage vehicles are rarely a decent buy and are cheap to purchase for a reason.

Suzuki XL Engine

You never know with a new or used vehicle. From experience with my 2000 Suzuki, I got 190k miles without problems to the motor. I would be more concerned with the life of the transmission. I replaced mine at 110k and was having more problems when I sold it at 190k. When I was in the mechanic business, I saw several Suzukis (different makes and models) with transmission problems as well.

Take into consideration also, that when you buy a used vehicle, you really don't how well the vehicle has been maintained by previos owners. Multiple small problems can be just as costly as one big one!
