Siemens Speedstream 4100: Enabling ports for Xbox live play

By joemac92 on Jul 09, 2009

I have a Speedstream 4100 modem and am wondering how to enable certain ports on it. I have an Xbox 360 and can't seem to play online for more than 5 minutes without being kicked. My game's (Burnout Paradise) manual says to enable ports 80,443,5223,3478-3479,3658, 6000, if I'm having this problem. Can I do this without calling my ISP (AT&T)? Are my ports not the problem?

- Nope, it's hooked directly into the 360; I switch the modem out when i want to play Live or get on the computer. I can download things through Live without many problems (sometimes, i get a message saying the download stopped, but it starts up again a minute later. This is probably connected to the problem). When I join a server that is about to screw up, no one shows up on the map (I guess I'm not getting any of their information) but I can hear them talking through headsets. Then my 360 freezes for 30 seconds or so or until I unplug my modem. Then it gives me the message: Your Xbox 360 console cannot connect to the Paradise City servers. Please check your network connection and try again later. When this happens, it signs me out of Live and I have to restart my modem (which has the Power, Ethernet, and DSL lights lit up, as it does when I'm playing online without problems) to try again. I'm using a different phone line than what I use for my computer (computer is in my room, xbox is in living room, I don't have a long enough phone cable to reach from the living room to my room so i just use the phone line in the kitchen). And I use different phone and ethernet cables (don't feel like switching them out). That's all the of the overwhelming information I know to give. Thanks for any help

Do you have a router connected between modem and console? The speedstream itself has no port blocking. if it is a straight line between modem and console then all ports are already open, but chances are you have a router between the too, especially if you have other devices connected(computers and the like). If that is the case, then it is the router in which you need to open the ports. If you do have one, post make and model plus version number if applicable.
