As there may be other factors at play that require a more detailed explanation, I would suggest that you seek a resolution through a discussion with a qualified technician. To do this, refer to your operating manual, which should provide a telephone number for technical contact assistance. You can also go up to the manufacturer's website and make contact for advice. www.denon.com/

I have the Denon Personal Component System UD-M10, It is a mini size and includes a tuner/amp, 3disk CD changer, and a bi-directional cassette tape player. It was bought about 2001. The CD changer stopped...

Hi,
Your suspicions about a broken belts are probably exactly right.
Here's what you can do or attempt to do.
Make sure the machine is unplugged.
Remove the cover of the unit. You may be able to manipulate the cd changer mechanism so that you can replace the belts connected to the door mechanisms. Since I am not there and I don't know how your unit is constructed I would advise to be VERY patient and exacting while doing this.
DON'T FORCE ANYTHING. And use good lighting so you can observe how it functions.

I have replaced a lot of belts on various types of CD transports and there is a certain similarity they all have. Inevitably they all have some small belt that rotates a gear mechanism that moves the transport drawer or section in and out.
Of course you can get it serviced by a professional, who will do as I suggest. But if you are confident that you can do it. Have at it.
The only problem I can imagine is locating an electronics supply house in your area.
You may be able to get a full set of belts from Denon.
I hope this helps you.
Best Regards,
Mark

I have a Denon UD-M5 that's 10 years old but has been working fine. I have just moved house and I think it was damaged in transit - the CD display just says ERR and I can't open any of the the drives....

Neither of the earlier responses actually understand the problem. What's much more likely is that, unlike a mechanically stuck drawer or derailed CD, you won't hear _anything_ when you fire up the unit. And, if you switch on the unit with any one of the 'load' buttons (rather than the power button) you'll get an ERR msg for that slot. Our unit was about the same age, so not surprising to see a similar failure. It's a tiny fuse on the top circuit board. The UD-M3 suffers from the same fuse blowing--theirs is labled PR003; on the M5, it's PR004. Look on the extreme right edge of the top PCB for a small orange resistor-looking micro-fuse with a '750' beside it. That stands for 750mA, which is what I went down to Radio Shack (The Source) and bought for $2, along with an inline fuse holder ($5). It's a small screw-together capsule with 4" leads on either end. Solder each end on either side of the blown component and you'll be back in business for under $10 and about an hour's effort.

CD DRAWER DOESNT OPEN

Is there a small hole on the front of the load tray? If there is use a straightened out paperclip to push into the hole to remove the stuck cd. That might help you out.

Denon DCM-280. Tray won't open, there are CDs in

If you don't wanna send it for service, open the chassis of the player and free the CDs from the tray. Its highly likely that the CDs came off the trays and got stuck inside.

After lightning strike, my denon ud-m5 displays "protected" when trying to play fm and doesn't work.

Check the wire at the back of the FM Ant. If possible replaced it or relocate the FM wire.

Good luck

Denon UD-M50 cd changer. Need help extracting drawer for home repair!

Hi KathyKate

If you are still having the same problem with your denon UD-M50 I might be able to help. I have fixed a number of them in the past and have the necessary maintenance manual and knowledge of a company that can supply spare parts. Disassembly looks very complex, especially when the problem is with the carousel but once you have an understanding of the mechanism it's not that difficult. Care should be taken when manually removing and reloading the disc trays as damage can result to the 'Teeth' alongside each. Spare trays are available. All my repairs involved the removal of the carousel mechanism in order to align the trays. I can copy the relevant sections of the manual dealing with the re-alignment which is critical but again if followed exactly you should have no trouble. If you respond with an Email address, I will be only too pleased to forward you the schematics etc.

Denon UD-M50 amp/3 cd changer

The tact switch behind the panel is being pushed in by a defective front panel button, the small switch is bad behind the button, or the volume control IC is bad. Good Luck
