The engine not cranking could be several thing's an could involve different control circuits ! The place to start is checking battery connections an doing a voltage drop test . I know ,I know this is something new to you probably ! How handy are you ? mechanically inclined are you ? do you have a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? an if so do you know how to use it ? Second , the battery not hold a charge , you could have what is referred to as a parasitic draw , simply put ,something is not turn off, draining the battery . On vehicles ,even a 2006 model has several electronic control modules , Engine , ABS , Air bags , BCM , an more ! after awhile ,after the key is turned off , these modules power down , or go into sleep mode . Sometimes they don't, an cause the battery to drain . You can check it with the amp meter hooked up in series with negative battery post an negative battery cable , with negative cable disconnected fro the battery ! If this doesn't look like something you can do , Then I suggest you take it to a ASE certified repair shop !
Double check all connections, make sure they are tight. Wire brush the battery connections, make sure the connections on the starter ore good and tight.
hi there does the engine crank ,if not check the transmission neutral safety switch trans switch keeps the engine from starting in gear if defective it will not let the starter engage the switch is mounted on transmission housing it has two plugs mack shore that it is plugged in
The aux batteries are usually able to be disconnected from the engine charging system , and main battery....to keep from discharging everything.... Look for a switch...
If its a diesel then you may need to get a spray can of ether starting fluid. Spray this directly into your air filter housing for approximatly 3-5 seconds. Try it once then try to start your truck. if it doesnt work then have someone else spray it in while you turn it over. However your problem maybe that you dont have enough charge in your batteries to completely turn your engine over to get full compression. in this case charge your batteries and try again.
