I'm trying to fix a Sony Vaio pcg-272l. I plug it in hit the power button, the screen never comes on it beep 3 times fast then 4 times fast, then 3 times fast again. That's all it does. What might my problem be?

Please check that they have any LED blinking. If it not blinking it is hardware issue. need to contact local tech. if it blinking. Reboot the computer and taping F10 button while you rebooting the computer and run system recovery and follow by the steps.

Did you completely turned unit off? Hold power button without power cord connected. Then proceed to reconnect power. Press power button and IMMEDIATELY hold key for aprox 5 secs (while and if it shows VAIO). It should load the BIOS setup screen. If you dont see anything like this the problem may be Hardware related, otherwise its Windows related

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

These symptoms are not the inverter problem, What can you do if the laptop LCD screen turned completely white? From my experience I can tell that this problem may be related to the following: 1. Loose connection between the video cable and the LCD screen. 2. Defective LCD screen. 3. Defective motherboard (I assume the graphics card is integrated into the motherboard).
Check these by yourself or get assistance from sony support.

Based on the information you have provided, the issue might be due to the Battery or the Power settings.
As the issue might be due to the Power Unit in the Notebook, this might also be related to the Hardware problem(Power Unit).
Hence, it would be better to get the Unit examined at the authorized Service Center.

i had the same prob this morning there are 3 things you can try

1 memery
2 proccessor
3 hard drive

if not any of them
try the dvd drive

if not that then try exsternal monitor if dont show on that then motherboard is gone

Sounds like a bad harddrive! If possible try replacing the harddrive!
Ill bet that would solve the problems you are having!

will i guest your computer have a major trouble...just try to check if the power led is ok the light is blink...or just check also if have 3 beeps sounds with regards to the video card...my suspect is weather a power supply of your computer or a video card is defective...let us bring that to the service center......
