Re: LexmarkX1240

Sometimes the print heads will become blocked. Take the catridges out and put a piece of toilet paper across the head and see if ink bleeds through. if not try moistening some kitchen paper and gently cleaning the heads.

Replaced ink cartridges, printer goes through all the motions, but paper comes out blank. I have done all the maintenance steps. What gives?

Cannon ink cartridges go into a print head. This is normally a removable box the ink cartridge sits in.

First remove the head and the cartridges from it. Now try this to clean the old ink off the print head, rub/soak the print head in alcohol. Make sure the print head is complete dry and place the ink back in it and return to the printer. Try to print a page, if you have the same results you need to replace the print head.

My hp deskjet 6940 inkjet printer doesn't show me level of ink in cartridge

Print a diagnostic page If the steps above have not helped, print and evaluate a diagnostic page to see if the cartridges or the printer is causing the problem.
  1. Make sure the printer is on and loaded with unused, plain, white paper.
  2. Press and hold the Power button and then press the Cancel button. Release both buttons. The diagnostic page prints. Figure 1: Power and Cancel buttonsc00584735.gif 1 - Cancel button 2 - Power button
Step 4: Note which cartridges printed which areas of the diagnostic page You must identify which cartridge printed which part of the diagnostic page, so that if you find defects on the page, you will know which cartridge is the problem. However, you can install different combinations of print cartridges in your printer, and different cartridge combinations print different diagnostic page patterns. Your diagnostic page may not look exactly like the picture below, but the right and left cartridges will print in the same areas of the page no matter which cartridges are installed. Figure 2: Diagnostic page layout (the patterns in each area may look slightly different on your page)c00584715.gif 1 - Printed by the right cartridge 2 - Printed by the left cartridge NOTE: If you are printing in reserve mode (one cartridge is missing), the missing cartridge's area of the diagnostic page will be blank. Step 5: Check ink levels NOTE: If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another product, the ink level indicator is inaccurate or unavailable. Look in the middle of the diagnostic page. The bars with "E" (for "empty") and "F" (for "full") at each end show the ink levels in the cartridges. As ink is used, the solid color changes to a faded color. The printer is only printing in two colors and only in lines going across the page. not a full print

Make sure that the ink you have, is Epson Ink.

I bought a compatible, supposely ink, and when I put it in, Colors did not come out the same. Lines and words, did not print out properly.

So I threw the ink cartridges, and bought original, Epson Ink, and Ooh-LA-LA, Printed out just fine.

Go Figure.

Good Luck

I have not used our cannon s900 printer for a long time. I have just put all new ink tanks in and am not able to get any thing to print onto a page. the paper goes through ok and everything sounds ok. will...

these printers have a printhead seperate from the carts....therefore the ink in the lines and the printhead are very succeptible to drying out...if you haven't used the printer for any amount of time, it is very likely that there is coagulation in the lines....and in the print head...if you are dead set on keeping this printer, let me know and there are some other steps to try and save this printer....

Nothing prints out on paper.

Did you remove the little sticky tabs from each new cartridge? They allow air in, and ink out.

Printing problem - you cannot see the ink on the printed papers

The ink is not flowing from the cartridges to the paper. The reasons for this can be numerous, so we must tackle it step-by-step, which will require a bit of interaction between us.

Have you tried a cleaning cycle? If not, try one (right click the little printer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and select head clean). Now run a nozzle check (right click the little printer icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and select nozzle check). Is there any sign of ink on the paper. Try up to three cleaning cycles. If ink is now flowing, but not yet perfectly, don't carry out any more cleaning cycles (this will waste ink). Just leave the printer for 24 hours (to allow any air in the print head to disperse). Then repeat the cleaning cycle/wait process. It may take a while to restore a perfect nozzle check print. If these actions produce no positive results, report back with a new comment.

Blank printout

If you are able to drag out your users manual, most lazer printers have a self cleaning process for the head, which takes around 3-5 minutes to complete, after that try to run a test page to ensure the colors are working fine.

Failing that, unless the printer is brand new, and or unless it has been sitting ( unused - regardless of age ) the print heads can dry out leaving a blockage ... hence, no ink, hence blank page.

The only other suggestion after running a Print head clean, would be to replace or refill the ink cartridges.

Black smudge streaks on rightside of printed/copied material

Can only be two things the drum or the fuser. More than likely drum they last about 4 toners i think.

Learn the art of getting a page to stop halfway threw printing, you want to stop the page after the drum has put a image on the paper but before paper has gone threw the fuser (hotbit).

Once you have mastered the position correctly by stopping the printing by opening the door and removing drum/toner cartridge, to reveal the paper that is printed but can be rubbed off, we will know if marks are coming from the drum (you will see them) or from the fuser, if print is fine.
