The road is a rectangle 12 feet wide and 1 mile long. To answer the question you need calculate the area and multiply by the depth to finish with the cubic capacity.

The main problem with the task is the calculation must be made in the same unit whether inches, feet or miles. The most convenient unit would be feet but if accuracy is required using a multiplier of one-third of a foot (4") which is 0.333 recurring represents a small loss of accuracy.

The alternative would be to use inches as the units or preferably to remain with feet but instead of multiplying by the depth as a decimal fraction turn it into a vulgar fraction and multiply by that.

Length x width x 4/12 = cubic feet

There is a further consideration which is such things as concrete and other similar materials is not bought and sold per cubic foot but by cubic yard so either the unit chosen really must be yards or the answer in cubic feet must be converted into cubic yards.

The equation then becomes either:
length x width x 4/12 = cubic feet/27 (all units in feet) OR
length x width x 4/36 = cubic yards (all units in yards)

Area 40 ft long 4ft wide 5 inches deep how many sq yards needed

First step - convert everything to feet - 5" is 5/12 of a foot

40 x 4 x 5/12 = 66.6 cubic feet.

Since a cubic yard is 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet, there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard.

66.6 cubic feet / 27 cubic feet/cubic yard = 2.5 cubic yards.

Good luck.

I have 4 acres front and back is 650 feet wide so hhow ow many feet deep will make the 4 acres.

There are 640 acres in a section.
A section is one mile by one mile
A mile is 5,280 feet
A square mile contains 5.280 X 5,520 = 27,878400 sq ft.
divide by 640 = 43,560 square feet per acre
multiply by 4 acres = 174,240 sq ft
divide by width 650ft = 268.06 feet

Hi my name is alex and im building a speaker box and the specs that i have are 0.8cubic feet to 1.5 cubic feet. And the volume 1.4 cubic feet . gow can i convert this so i can use my tape measure

Hi Alex. The 3 measurements you quote are all cubic feet so you cannot ascertain any fixed sizes from that. The figure is arrived at by multiplying the width x height x depth. This means that if the box is 1 foot high and 1 foot wide it would need to be 1.4 feet deep to total 1.4 cubic feet. If it was 6 feet high and 1.4 feet wide and 2 inches deep it would also be 1.4 cubic feet. As you can see the sizes are completely different and the combination of different sizes is just about infinite.
Hope that is of some help, although to be honest I don't see how....

How to convert inches and feet to square feet and square inches

There are several ways to do this.
We can choose either inches or feet as our base.
Let's do the case in inches.
Let's say the measurements are 5'2" by 2'4".
Step 1 - Convert everything into inches, so multiply the feet by 12 and add the inches. 5'2" becomes 5x12+2 = 62". Similarly, with 2'4" 2x12+4 = 28".
Step 2 - Calculate the area in square inches. 62" x 28" = 1736 square inches.
Step 3 - Convert square inches into square feet by dividing the number of square inches by 144 (12" x 12"). I get 12.06 square feet.

Let do the case in feet using the same measurements.
Step 1 - convert everything into feet. Since there are 12" in a foot, divide the inches by 12 and add to the feet. 5'2" becomes 5 + 2/12 = 5.16'. Similarly, 2'4" becomes 2 + 4/12 = 2.33'.
Step 2 - calculate the area in square feet. 5.16' x 2.33' = 12.02 square feet.
Step 3 - Convert the square feet to square inches by multiplying the answer in square feet by the number of square inches in a square foot (144). Imagine a square 12" by 12". 12.02 square feet x 144 = 1730 square inches.

Note that I have rounded my answers, thus, they are not equal. To avoid this, keep the answer in your calculator and round only at the end.

Any questions, let me know.

Good luck.

How do I calculate cubic feet of refrigerator

Normally refrigerators have stickers inside that state the cubic feet. If that's missing you must measure the width X depth X height to get cubic feet. WxDxH= cubic feet.

Cubic feet calculator

That would depend on the depth. A refrigerator that's 60 inches high by 30 inches wide by 1 inch deep would be just over one cubic foot. A refrigerator that's 60 inches high by 30 inches wide by 30 inches deep would be 31.25 cubic feet.

We have the GE JVM130H 001 microwave. I am trying to figure out what is the cubic feet capacity of this microwave. Can anyone tell me?

Hi, W/D here.

Here's an easy way to calculate your cubic feet: measure and multiply (in inches) the width X depth X height, then divide by 1728. This will give you cubic feet.
For example, if a microwave measured 18" wide X 18" deep X 12" high, it would be 3888 cubic inches; divided by 1728 (cubic inches in one cubic foot) = 2.25 cu.ft.
Best regards, --W/D--
