If you are having the problem of a blank white screen, dont freak out! hold down the menu and select button for about 15 seconds or until the appel logo appears.if this doesnt work try plugging in your ipod. if that doesnt work wiggle the lock and unlock button a couple of times. if all these soulutions dont work go to www.apple.com and call customer support

Try the Hardware reset.
Press and hold the menu button and the select button on the click wheel for about 10 sec. Then the screen goes blank and apple logo will appear.

had the same problem. I just jiggled the on-off switch back and forth a couple of times and the screen came back.

I tried doing that hardware reset thing two times but nothing happened so i went to get back on my computer for more solutions and couldn't find any and if you've had an ipod or have an ipod you'll probably know that when you leave it sit for a minute or two that it will go off or go into a sleep kind of mode. well i went back to my ipod and started to fool with it and when it came out of sleep or came back on it was working perfectly fine and everything was there. all my songs, pictures, notes just everything.

I have had this problem recently myself and would like you to know that it is possible to fix. The white screen error or otherwise known as "white screen of death" is caused by the lcd color screen on the ipod itself. That is why its functions still work but the screen does not. Once you replace the color screen it will be as good as new.
