Hi, If this model has standing pilot lights, you need to turn the gas off. If this is an electonic/spark ignition stove, you will not need to worry about any gas excaping.

I have a defy Thermo fan gas stove the top works fine but the oven not sure how to switch it on

To turn on the oven on your Defy Thermo Fan gas stove, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that the oven is properly connected to a gas supply and that the gas valve is turned on.
  2. Turn the oven control knob to the desired temperature setting.
  3. Press the oven ignition button to ignite the gas. You may need to hold the button down for a few seconds until the gas ignites.
  4. If the gas does not ignite, check the ignition system and make sure that it is functioning properly. You may need to consult the stove's manual or contact a professional for further assistance.
  5. Once the oven is ignited, it should begin heating up to the desired temperature.
Keep in mind that it may take a few minutes for the oven to reach the desired temperature, depending on the setting you have chosen. You can use the oven control knob to adjust the temperature as needed.
If you are having trouble turning on the oven on your Defy Thermo Fan gas stove or if you have any other questions, you may want to consult the stove's manual or contact Defy customer support for further assistance.

How do I turn my oven on? I have never had a gas stove, but I cant get the stove to start except if I turn right to grill in other words I can get it to ignite for 180 degrees etc only grill

normal operation is to push the oven knob in and turn
pushing in sets the igniter off and turning opens the gas flow to ignite
always light an oven with the oven door open
stop s an explosion if there is a problem
down load an operators manual bu going google and typing in --- user manual for ( make and model ) gas stove --- find a pdf version and download it

Frigidaire GLG=F366asd stove igniter problems and solutions . ... on the element lights up the smell of gas is real strong and then it lights and sounds like an explosion.

Where is the problem -- in the oven burner or a stovetop burner?
If something got spilled on a burner ring and clogged the small holes, especially near the igniter, the burner will be slow to light. A stiff wire (small enough to fit) can be used to clean out the holes.

How do I light the oven on a gas stove

If this is a newer stove (that does not have a pilot light...and most newer stoves don't), you shouldn't have to light the oven manually (if you think you need to, you have a faulty stove). Manual ignition of a stove is also potentially dangerous as larger amounts of gas in the oven can cause small explosions. Most modern gas stoves use a very hot glowbar to both regulate the amount of gas entering the oven and igniting that gas. If you have a faulty glowbar, it will not allow enough gas to enter the oven and may not be hot enough to ignite the little gas that does enter (that is why you may smell gas). It sound like you may need to replace the glowbar (or visually inspect the glowbar to see if it gets red hot. If it does, it may still be faulty (not drawing enough power). The only way to test this is to use a clamp-on ampmeter and test the current flow through the wires feeding the glowbar. They should read between 3.1 and 3.7 amps. Anything lower means the glowbar should be replace. If you cannot see the glowbar get red hot, you have an electrical problem or a circuit board problem.

I have a Frigidaire stove, when I turn the oven on the element lights up the smell of gas is real strong and then it lights and sounds like an explosion.

Hi,

Have you spilt anything on the burner? If so it will need to be cleaned, you will need to do the following (you need a pin, a matchstick, a drinking straw and a torch):

Make sure the oven control and the electric isolated is off please, remove the shelves, using the torch, inspect the oven burner, if there is no apparent blockage, disregard the following advice and seek the help of a 'Gas Safe' engineer in your area.

If it is blocked, using a pin or matchstick clean the holes in the burner, and use the drinking straw to blow the debris away. Move away from the burner, and see if it lights.

If this fails to work it could mean that the ignition is in the incorret position allowing for explosive ignition. See advice from a 'Gas Safe' qualified engineer.

I hope this helps.

Gas Odor coming from oven

The reason you can't smell it when the oven is on is because the gas is being ignited. DO NOT USE YOUR STOVE until you get this fixed by a gas fitter. You have a gas leak, which is either a loose fitting or faulty valve or line.

Call your appliance dealer IMMEDIATELY or you could have an explosion!!!!

Magic Chef Gas Range

Does this oven glows before igniting the gas in the oven? if it does this unit uses a glow bar ignitor in the oven and spark module for the top burners. If it you dont see the spark( or hear the ticking sound the there will be no ignition. Do you smell gas even if there was no ignition happening? If there's gas that eliminate your gas regulator. If it's only one burner with spark but gas won't come on then your gas valve is deffective. But if there's gas and no spark ten it could be poor grounding, wiring, connection or switch or even spark module problem. You to need call your local Appliance service provider on this one. I do not recommend anyone fixing gas related problem if they are not a qualified servicer.
