the fuel line rots apart you need to replace the line pull the old hose out take a new hose cut down about a half inch cutting the line to about 1/3 slide a stiff wire down the hole and out the gas cap slide the hose over the wire and slide it back til the cut back end pops out put the filter on the end and pull it into place cut to size and install on the carb
remove and clean out your carb and inspect the diaphram and if it is stiff or winkled bad replace it, this ethanol that they put in gas raises havoc with fuel lines and gums up carbs and makes diaphrams stiff, I would put a kit in it and also replace your primer bulb while you are at it
Check the condition of the primer bulb for hardness or cracking. If ok, remove the line that goes from the bulb back into the tank and try to pump fuel from the carburetor. If nothing, switch the position of the other line at the back of the primer and try to draw fuel again. If hooked correctly, the primer will pull fuel through the carburetor body filling all cavities and into the primer bulb. If still nothing, try switching the lines at the carburetor (it should not pump backwards through the check valves in the pumper chamber). If still nothing, switch the primer connection again. Some combination of line connections should allow fuel to be pumped through. When correct, reconnect the loose primer line to allow fuel to return to the tank. This is a good reason for replacing only one line at a time. Hope this helps!
You have it plumbed incorrectly!
EXACTLY like this. http://www.fixya.com/support/r3706813-2_cycle_fuel_system_repair Suction side to carb. Pressure side to tank. It does NOT squirt fuel into carb throat. It bleeds air from fuel system. All 2-cycle engines work like this. Lou
Jimmy there are no Poulan drawings with fuel system detail worth the ink it takes to print them, but that is all there is. Fuel Line Replacement by SmallEng.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrXpU70Hmi0 Routing runs from fuel tank to carburetor, (if equipped) through carburetor to primer bulb (once compressed bulb draws fuel as it returns to normal) , bulb (as it is compressed) returns displaced to fuel tank. HTH Lou
the large hose from the tank goes to the suction side of the primer bulb. The large line from the out put side of the bulb goes to the bottom inlet of the carb. the small line goes from the top outlet tube on the carb back into the tank near the primer bulb.
filtered line from tank goes into top inlet at carb. bottom inlet receives line that goes to carb side of primer {draw side} 3rd line goes from push side of bulb bach to fuel tank.
