Question about Canon PowerShot A85 Digital Camera

Image Backgound having horizontal lines

Hi,
It looks some setting have been changed of my A85 canon Camera. When take an image its backgound have lines of image it looks like image on top of the window shield

Can you suggest what is wrong in my camera

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your cameras warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Poor resolution with horizontal lines


This is known problem of ccd imager chip failure in Canon A95 camera, ccd imager chip will be replaced to get clear picture. It was coincidence that problem occurred at same time when you did some settings but it is not setting problem.

Problem for Canon PowerShot A85 Digital Camera Image on screen has horizontal lines scrolling


See this link. The symptoms you describe indicate a problem with the image sensor (CCD). If the menu icons look good, and you can view older images OK, this is probably your problem. Canon will repair this at no cost regardless of warranty status if they determine this is the issue. Contact them for your options.

Scrambled image in shooting mode-Canon A85


It is problem of bad CCD Imager in your Canon A85 camera and ccd imager will be replaced to get correct picture in live view/ shooting mode.

The image veiwing window is mostly black, with horizontal


It sounds like your CCD image sensor is bad. Canon has issued a world wide technical notice regarding this, and will repair it at no cost if this is determined to be the problem, regardless of warranty.

Problems in A85


It appears the CCD image sensor is going bad. Both these cameras are specified in Canon's technical notice regarding this issue. If Canon determines that this is the problem (and almost certainly it is), they will repair your cameras at no cost, regardless of warranty status. If you're not in the US, contact your regional Canon service facility.

This is a CCD sensor fault and you should find out from Canon if they will repair free of charge which they do on many models which have faulty sensor installed in the factory.
