You first need to create a new inventory item.
1. Create a standard item in the INVENTORY Maintenance.
2. Call it NOTES and put it in the NONE department.
3. Uncheck all boxes under OPTIONAL INFO, the OPTIONS tab.
4. Click the ADDITIONAL INFO tab, uncheck all boxes but PROMPT DESCRIPTION.
5. Under PRINTERS, add the kitchen printer.
6. Save the inventory item.
7. Go to SETUP, TOUCH SCREEN CONFIGURATION.
8. Click on one of the 16 buttons in middle of page, an unused one. It should turn green.
9. On bottom half of page, set it to a FIXED ITEM.
10. Set caption to KITCHEN NOTES.
11. Check box to display button.
12. Picture can be left blank.
13. In ENTER ITEM NUMBER, type NOTES, the new item you created.
14. Click SAVE AND EXIT.
15. Log out of RPE. When you log back in, you should have a KITCHEN NOTES button. You have a limit of 30 characters. However you can hit button as often as you like to continue your message to kitchen. This should not print on customer's receipt.
