ists not draining.. meaning you dont hear the drain pump kick in? or if you do hear pump kick in, have you checked the hose to the drain..? it could be blocked with a build up of food over the use of dishwasher.
that happened to mine last month. it would fill, but seemd not to drain.. until i disassembled the dishwasher drain from the sink connection and saw at sink connection it wss blocked.. its an easy fix.. unscrew the clamp on drain hose and pull apart and push food back into the drain to wash it away.. good luck !!
Is it a new install? If so check the drain inlet under the sink. There is a round plug in the drain ( if it's new ) where the dishwasher drain line connects to the pic pipe under your sink.( use screw driver to pop it inward don't worry it won't clog your drain )
If it's not a new install the drain pump may just be worn out. Or the butterfly valve above the pump may not be opening. Manually open this valve, using a screw driver while it's running spin the dial until it's in drain mode. You will see a solenoid that pops up and down connected to the butterfly. Use the screwdriver to push the valve lever open all the way. Usually downward. hope this helps.
no drano but a lot of tomes the drain hose under the sink where it drain into the garbage disposal needs to be looped up when you use the sink where the disposal is it drains back down into your dishwasher
if you have an air gap vent in the kitchen sink plumbing then make sure it is clear. Also looks like the kitchen drain end is blocked. Pour some caustic soda into the sink drain, wait 10 minutes and run water into the sink.
If you are using insinkerator (garbage disposer) in sink, make sure it is run before you start the dishwasher.
dishwasher drain enters sewer system tapped into waste pipe below kitchen sink
water flowing from kitchen sink passes the opening of the dishwasher pipe
If the dishwasher hose does not loop up higher than the kitchen sink before going down to the bottom of the dishwasher water may flow downhill through the dishwasher drain into the dishwasher
ensure the dishwasher drain hose is screwed to the underside of the kitchen counter, to provide a stop to water flow.
The installation instructions suggest this
but often the dishwasher is at the end of its 'stretch'
and the installer assumes looping is just to use up excess hose, and doesnt.
an extension drain hose is available at most appliance stores
From the sound of things, your dishwasher drains faster than your sink drain ( via the garbage disposal) can drain it off.. You may have a problem with the way your sink drain/trap is vented and there is too much back pressure to drain down quickly.. When you run water from your sink, does it take a long time to drain down or if you fill your sink up and drain it, does it drain slowly ? That may be your problem.. Hope that helps.
Make sure you run water in your sink until it is hot before you start the dishwasher. On the newer dishwashers they will fill and drain until the water is hot enough so it takes longer if it starts with cold water. Normal time for a basic wash could take about 45 min.
