If you read and google you will find over 200 more complaints. This is an issue only GM/Chevy can fix. Report it to www.safercar.gov and the Department of Consumer Affairs. I have been battling this issue for 2 months.
If you have electric power steering.the torque sensor and speed sensor.they would cause power steering problems if bad.

So I fell victim just as everyone else has. I hit 45,000 miles and my power steering went out and it cost $900 to fix it.
In order to get Chevy to recall this problem we all need to call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 888-327-4236 or visit http://www.SaferCar.gov It will only take a few minutes.
I made a video and put it on youtube to help build awareness on the subject:

Fault with the IAC valve.there maybe a trouble code associated with it also./ Go to your nearby autozone or auto parts retailer and ask them to put a scanner to the car....make note of the codes if any are found. the IAC valve i usually locate don the throttle body and can be removed for inspection and sometimes cleaning using a good throttle body cleaner spray and a pipe cleaner brush.

There is a recall on the power steering just call any GM place and tell the that you have a recall and would like to have it fixed and it won't cost you a dime!

2006 chevy cobalt uses an electronic steering unit but in looking at it I don't see any wires connected to the rack. The power steering is intermittent and turns very hard at times. Is there a quickner or something under the dash or is it all in the rack?
