Same S#!^ with my 2000 Olds (Quad 2.4L)

p0640 appears to be invalid code.
p1640 shows to be quad driver fault. Does the vehicle run ok? I'm not sure I can troubleshoot?
Usually with older vehicles, you could damage a new computer or quad driver w/o proper testing of the appropriate wiring circuits and components.
Don't replace anything w/o proper testing of all components, involved.

The hose (or line) will be threaded on at each end. Just unscrew the couplings and install the replacement. Then top up the fluid.

quad driver A fault
ECM module have input and ouput, quad driver are there to activate a solenoid or relay
quad driver A drive a few of those output
example quad driver A control canister purge solenoid and the solenoid is defect . the quad driver will kick off until you change the solenoid
there is two kind of driver 1984 to .......one will reset if trouble is repair
the other one is the ecm module itself have to be change after is repair .....(quad driver act has a driver or big fuse)

they are the coil packs

Three causes:

1: Dirty battery terminals

2: Battery is flat or dying

3: The starter motor is dead and all that is happening is the solenoid is clicking in and out

If not in fuse panel, take ash tray out, unscrew ash tray assembly and pull out. The flasher is on the right side of the ash tray right up front.

Change the transmission fluid and filter. Most vehicle owners do not do this enough (if at all!) and do not realize its importance. Fluid becomes gummed up which dramatically affects shift points and throttle valve performance. With your severity, I would suggest a full backflush by a mechanic.

Yes, the engine mounts and bell housings are the same.
The swap should be straight forward, however be sure to swap all the vaccum controls and emission system from the 2.6L.

THE QUAD DRIVER IS BUILT IN THE COMPUTER.I WOULD REPLACE THE COMPUTER THEY ARE NOT EXPENSIVE ON YOU VEHICLE.LOCATED RIGHT FRONT INSIDE KICKPANNEL!
