Lenovo x240 screen wont come on. power light is on and light on the alt button is on. no scree display

X240 comes up as a Lenovo think pad or flex system ?

Dear, to rotate the screen 90 degree

Press
alt ctrl arrow up key or
alt ctrl arrow right key or
alt ctrl arrow down key or
alt ctrl arrow left key .

and If your Laptop Screen is portrait and you need to change scree to landscape then follow thee steps

Right click on desktop go to properties select display option and then change display setting and select Orintation change to landscape

or

right click on desktop Screen Resolution select Orintation change to landscape

For this particular scenario, it is most likely the system board. It is probably still a good practice to pull the battery and AC and try to reset by pressing and holding the power button several times, for several seconds each time, and then re-attaching AC and try to restart.

have you checked your display settings? have you updated your operating system and anti virus software? have you updated the manufacture hardware drivers from their websites? these are things that you can do immediately, if you are unable to see the start button located at the bottom of your screen, then push the windows emblem located at the bottom left of your keyboard. it is next to the ALT and the space bar.

An upside down image - this is caused by unintentional pressing Ctrl-Alt plus the down arrow key. Restore by pressing Ctrl-Alt plus the up arrow key. ALSO To change the display from portrait to landscape Press Ctrl-Alt plus a left or right arrow key. Some computers do not have this function.

There's a possibility that the problem is with the LCD cable or the LCD itself. If its either one of them, you will not be able to fix that by yourself since you will need to replaced the part itself. But there's one simple solution that may fix the problem if its not the hardware itself.This may cause by an electrical charge in the motherboard itself,Im not really sure how it affects the display of the computer. Please follow this method since it usually fix such problem like that,

1.Removed the battery then unplugged the AC adapter

2.Press and hold the power button or the ON/OFF button for at least 30 seconds

3.Connect the power supply back to your computer then turn it back on.

4. Check if you will see any difference.

5. If nothing happens, try to press and hold Fn and F2 on the keyboard.

If nothing happens, there is a possibility that the problem is with the LCD or monitor itself, maybe it will need a replacement...

Hi. I think the LCD screen of your laptop needs a replacement because I think the backlight on that LCD is already busted thats why you need to point a flashlight or some sort of light just to see the display. Powerdraining your computer wont work because this already a hardware issue with the LCD, that's why when you switch display with your monitor it works fine. I would suggest replacing the LCD of that laptop or try calling Lenovo tech support if your laptop still under warranty so that they would replace it for free. Try right clicking the desktop, selecting Graphics Properties, then selecting Display Settings, then set the rotation to 0.
