There is usually no adjustment for manual staple guns. you can only fit the length of staples that slide into the holder.

What size staples does the B&G Powershot staple gun use? I bought a refill pack 3/8" & 5/16" long. They fit but the shank when pulled out and loaded with staples won't close. Thank you. Julia Carr

Hi Julia,

You have the right size staples. The problem is the length of the refills. Some staplers can't accommodate a full length clip.

Break the staple refill clip in half, then insert it. The shank will be able to close and latch that way.

Best regards
Mike

How do you adjust the staple size to load 1/2" or 1/4" staples?

Staple guns can use a variety of staples; the width of the staple is fixed, the lengths vary from 1/4" up (usually in 1/8" increments). You don't need to adjust the staple gun for the different lengths, just be sure the width fits your gun since some manufacturers have used brand-specific staples.

There are also a variety of staple types; there are staples for ceiling tile, electric wire, window screening, etc. My favorite staples for wood have the tips cut on a sharp angle, they penetrate wood well. Some staple types require a particular gun, I have a gun that shoots only round-top staples for small cables like phone & thermostat wire.

Hi can't seem to reload stapler

All you do is open the end peice and slide the staples in on the two rails, point down. You should be able to see in the end to make sure nothing is blocking the rail with a flashlight. You probably have the wrong size staples. You can only use # 214, 215, 276.
